2026 - Electrical Engineer Intern

Winthrop is a dedicated Data Centre Construction company providing turnkey solutions to our clients, headquartered in Dublin and delivering throughout Europe. Winthrop specialises in providing Turnkey Data Centre Solutions, providing services from design, through to construction across the full range of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical services as well as commissioning.

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer Intern to join our project and engineering teams. This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates who want hands‑on exposure to electrical engineering within large‑scale construction and data centre environments. You will work closely with experienced engineers to support design reviews, technical documentation, quality checks, and site‑based installation and commissioning activities.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Support senior engineers with calculations, load schedules, and system design tasks.
• Participate in site inspections, equipment checks, and progress monitoring.
• Assist in coordinating with mechanical, CSA, and commissioning teams.
• Help maintain project documentation, logs, and quality records.
• Support the review of electrical installations including cable routing, containment, LV/MV systems, and equipment installation.
• Contribute to safety and compliance checks under supervision.
• Attend engineering meetings, toolbox talks, and coordination sessions.
• Provide general project and administrative support as needed.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related discipline.
• Strong interest in electrical systems, construction, and large‑scale engineering projects.
• Basic understanding of electrical principles, system components, and engineering workflows.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
