We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our team in Ritto, Japan. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with local and international accounting standards.
・Accounts Receivable Management: Provides strategic oversight of AR processes, ensuring governance and compliance.
・Accounts Payable Management: Oversees governance of AP processes managed by India SSC, engaging regularly to mitigate risks such as delayed payments and maintain process integrity.
・Reporting and financial closing: Executes the accurate and timely execution of critical reporting deliverables, including the CORE File, ONYX, Trial balance review etc.
・Internal Control: Submits monthly Diligent reports and validates the effectiveness of internal controls. In an audit capacity, ensures the integrity of fixed asset verification and inventory cycle counts.
・Treasury Management: Executes complex treasury operations, including hedging strategies, intercompany netting, and intercompany loan arrangements.
・Fixed Assets: Ensures compliance with Smith’s policy by overseeing accurate depreciation and robust asset management within SAP.
・Finance Projects: Plays a key role in global and local finance transformation initiatives, driving process optimization and operational excellence.
・Tax: Partners with the Financial Controller and Deloitte to ensure compliance and provide guidance on complex tax matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or financial management
- Strong knowledge of Japanese accounting standards and tax regulations
- Familiarity with international financial reporting standards (IFRS)
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
- Experience with accounting software, preferably SAP
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Fluency in English and Japanese (both written and verbal)
- Familiarity with Japanese business culture and practices
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
