This role is a key leadership position within the finance organization, responsible for owning and scaling the full accounts payable function in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. You will combine hands-on operational excellence with people leadership, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous process improvement. Partnering closely with accounting, finance, and cross-functional stakeholders, you will help strengthen controls, streamline workflows, and support timely financial close cycles. The position offers strong visibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to build smarter, more efficient systems. Accountabilities:

  • Own and oversee all accounts payable operations, including vendor setup, contract review, invoice and credit approvals, payments, aging reports, and past-due follow-ups.
  • Manage annual 1099 preparation and filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with accounts receivable and client-facing teams to reconcile passthrough spend and ensure timely vendor payments.
  • Review, approve, and ensure accurate posting of expense reports and travel and entertainment transactions.
  • Ensure proper general ledger coding across cost of sales, expenses, departments, client IDs, and required tags.
  • Prepare and review AP-related journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance internal controls to protect the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop junior accounting team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Lead process improvements, policy development, and ad hoc projects to support efficiency and a faster month-end close.
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 6+ years of general ledger or accounting experience, with strong exposure to accounts payable operations.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and current accounting standards.
  • Hands-on experience with financial systems such as NetSuite, expense management tools, and related platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • A positive, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset; experience in agency, digital media, or high-growth environments is a plus.
