Position Overview

Chai Discovery is seeking an AI Engineer to play a crucial role in developing our next-generation AI x biology foundation models and application to real-world drug discovery challenges. The AI Engineer will work closely with the founding team to build, optimize, and maintain the software and infrastructure that power our AI-driven drug discovery pipeline. This position is based full-time in San Francisco, CA.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI researchers to design, implement, and maintain software systems that support AI-driven drug discovery applications.

• Develop and optimize high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure.

• Integrate AI models into production systems, platforms, and front-end applications, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python .

• Deep understanding of operating system internals (Unix). 

• Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure such as Slurm and Kubernetes.

• Experience with performance engineering (familiarity with profiling tools, optimizing CPU and GPU workloads, writing CUDA and Triton kernels, and so forth)

• Experience writing, building, and maintaining large-scale ETL pipelines.

• Experience using deep learning libraries such as PyTorch.
