The Analytics Engineer – Semantic Model Developer is responsible for transforming raw data into structured semantic models that enable scalable, governed analytics and AI-driven insights. Operating within Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, this role ensures models are technically robust, strategically aligned, and compliant with governance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement semantic models in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric aligned with business logic.
  • Build and maintain ETL pipelines using Azure services to support semantic layers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, governed semantic models.
  • Ensure seamless data integration across enterprise systems for real-time analytics.
  • Implement data governance within semantic models to ensure compliance with PII, SOX, and internal standards.
  • Optimize semantic model performance and usability for self-service analytics.
  • Build AI-ready data structures and collaborate with data scientists for predictive analytics.
  • Develop executive dashboards and reports using Power BI and SQL.
  • Manage full lifecycle of semantic models: creation, certification, versioning, and deprecation.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for lifecycle and governance improvements.

They hold a relevant tertiary qualification and bring strong expertise in semantic modeling, data engineering, and cloud-based analytics platforms.

  • Proven ability to design and implement semantic models in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, aligning technology solutions with business objectives.
  • Experienced in ETL processes, data integration, and lifecycle management of semantic assets.
  • Skilled at translating complex business requirements into intuitive, governed models and dashboards.
  • Knowledgeable in AI, predictive analytics, and data governance, with a clear understanding of compliance standards like PII and SOX.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and strategic goals.
