Perplexity AI is looking for an experienced Android Engineer to join our small team revolutionizing the way people browse the Internet. You will be responsible for building and expanding Comet for Android - Perplexity’s new browser.

The ideal candidate should have strong programming skills, an interest in AI and large language models, and a passion for delivering a great UX backed by a quality UI.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a performant native Android app that millions of users around the world enjoy using.

  • Ensure a high craft and quality bar, both in the user experience and the developer experience.

  • Work closely with design teams to design fast and intuitive UI.

  • Collaborate with data science and machine learning teams to instrument, analyze, and improve the end-to-end experience.

  • Work with infrastructure and QA teams on deployment processes, including testing, release, and monitoring.

Requirements

  • 4+ years industry experience

  • Expertise in Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines and Flow

  • Strong Android fundamentals and a proven track record of working with a modern Android stack built in Kotlin

  • Understands how to manage performance and speed

  • (Preferred) Deep experience with Gradle, JNI, Kotlinization of codebases and tooling in large codebases

  • (Preferred) Experience with Chromium development for Android

  • Comfortable working with a small, fast-moving team, must be willing to dive in and take ownership

  • A passion for shipping

Our cash compensation range for this role is $200,000 - $400,000.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
 
Equity: In addition to the base salary, equity may be part of the total compensation package.
