NextGen Federal Systems is seeking a skilled Application Developer to design, develop, and maintain database-driven applications that support business and operational needs. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software development, experience across multiple programming languages, and a proven ability to deliver reliable, scalable IT solutions.
This position can work in either Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania or Indian Head, Maryland and an active Secret clearance (or higher) is required to be considered for this position.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain database-driven applications to meet business requirementsCollaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other IT team members to define application specificationsWrite clean, efficient, and well-documented code using one or more supported programming languagesTroubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing applications to improve performance and usabilityParticipate in code reviews and follow established development standards and best practicesEnsure applications comply with security, performance, and data integrity requirementsSupport application deployment, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance activities
Required Qualifications
Four-year degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related fieldMinimum of five (5) years of experience in a related Information Technology (IT) roleDemonstrated experience designing and developing database-driven IT applicationsProficiency in one or more of the following programming languages or technologies: C++, Java / J2EE, Visual Basic, .NET, HTML / XML, PowerBuilder, DelphiStrong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologiesExperience working with relational databases and SQLActive DoD Secret security clearance or higher
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a team-based development environmentFamiliarity with version control systems and modern development toolsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
