The Area VP, Sales will lead a high-performing regional sales organization in a fast-paced, competitive biotech environment. This role offers the opportunity to drive growth in a specialty market, shaping strategy and execution for a transformative therapy. You will inspire, develop, and manage a team of field leaders while ensuring compliance, operational excellence, and a strong focus on customer and patient outcomes. As a key member of the commercial leadership team, you will influence business strategy, mentor top talent, and ensure the organization consistently achieves ambitious sales goals. This position blends strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, offering high visibility and impact within the organization.

Accountabilities:

Lead approximately half of the U.S. sales organization, driving sales of a targeted therapy in a highly specialized disease area.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies and go-to-market plans.

Analyze area/regional performance data to optimize sales approaches and exceed targets.

Mentor and develop first-line leaders to ensure regional teams achieve results while maintaining compliance and ethical practices.

Partner on key account management, building and maintaining relationships with national and regional healthcare leaders.

Drive a high-performance culture by setting aspirational goals, motivating teams, and fostering accountability.

Ensure field execution is supported with robust systems, processes, and KPI tracking.

Serve on committees for incentive compensation planning, promoting a compliant, performance-driven culture.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Minimum 15 years of commercial experience in biotech or pharma, including at least 10 years in sales or related functions.

7+ years of experience leading field teams, preferably in specialty or rare disease markets.

Proven ability to operate in high-growth, competitive environments.

Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and data-driven decision-making.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively across functions including marketing, market access, and commercial operations.

Demonstrated success in building high-performing teams and strong customer relationships.
