Job Description
Our Quality Assurance (QA) team is on the search for a talented tester to make a meaningful impact on Alertus, its customers, and the mass emergency notification industry. The Associate Hardware QA Tester will work directly with the development team to understand hardware and firmware operation(s) and execute suitable test plans for product reliability. Our ideal candidate has keen attention to detail and the ability to catch errors and deficiencies in a critical life safety system.
A Day in the Life:
Execute test plans based upon product requirementsLeverage issue-tracking software to maintain a list of known defectsPerform functional, user experience, user acceptance, and performance testing for our suite of software and mobile products as assignedIdentifies gaps in test procedures based on business requirementsClearly isolate, reproduce, and document bugs in pre-production and customer environmentsConduct hands-on testing and troubleshooting, analysis of failure trends and root cause / corrective actionsWork cross-departmentally to investigate, reproduce, and resolve customer reported issuesContribute towards process and product documentation and refinement as necessaryParticipate in design reviews and provide feedback on hardware architecture and implementationPerform hands-on testing of prototypes and production unitsTroubleshoot complex hardware and software problemsIsolate the root cause of defects and work with engineering teams to resolve themAssist in building out new test environments and capabilities
Required Skills:
Excellent problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detailAbility to document testing processes for use in technical manuals and/or product support siteAbility to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with both engineering and non-engineering teamsAbility to troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.
Desired Skills:
Scripting/coding experience with Python or PowerShellBasic understanding of electrical circuitsStrong foundational understanding of IP connected devices
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceInternship or academic project experience in hardware testing or electronics preferred
