Associate, Salesforce Engineer

As of the end of 2024, Aceli has paid out incentives on over 3,000 loans to more than 40 lenders in its five countries of operation. Aceli leverages a highly customized Salesforce platform to collect lender loan data and determine the eligibility and amount of monthly and quarterly incentive payouts.

Two factors drive the search for this role: i) Aceli plans to double the number of loans for review in 2025 and seeks to streamline both the process and the platform; and ii) lender feedback indicates opportunities to enhance the lender user experience moving forward.

The Associate, Salesforce engineer will: i) work alongside technology partners and the product team on feature development, and ii) implement direct changes to the Salesforce platform.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills and a service- oriented mindset. Given the diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, we are looking for someone who is highly customer-centric—a natural problem-solver who is energized by understanding user needs and crafting thoughtful, pragmatic solutions. This role is based in Nairobi, Kenya, or within the GMT +3 time zones.

Key Responsibilities:

• Targeted Feature Development
  Collaborate with Aceli’s Salesforce developer to implement enhancements or adjustments deemed best suited for internal development. Accelerate time-to-market by managing select development sprint tasks effectively and ensure responsiveness to organizational goals.
• Code Reviews & Audits
  Participate in regular code reviews to confirm alignment with any new product design changes and to resolve bugs, ensuring the overall integrity and performance of payment-related functionality and the system. Monitor data integrity and system performance; implement optimizations as needed.
• Code Quality & Release Validation
  Perform technical unit testing and oversee end-to-end User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for features, ensuring that implementations align with Aceli’s functional and business requirements, coding standards, and performance expectations.
• Requirements Gathering & Feature Scoping
  Collect and refine requirements from both internal stakeholders (Product team and other departments) and external stakeholders (Aceli lenders). Translate identified business needs and user pain points into clear technical specifications.
• Retroactive Feature Documentation & User Support
  Design, develop and maintain comprehensive user and troubleshooting guides, focusing on key modules of the Aceli Salesforce platform to ensure effective support for both internal and external audiences.
• Salesforce Administration
  Act as the go-to technical expert for Aceli team, addressing platform inquiries, addressing platform related issues, and guiding best practices to optimize system usage.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of deploying scalable Salesforce solutions in fast-paced, mission-driven organizations.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, and understanding of agile development or product life cycles and related tools.
• Experience with Salesforce integration via APIs, and linking Salesforce data tables to data visualization platforms.
• Experience creating technology user guides and providing user support.
• Adept problem-solver with ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications that address user pain points.
• Customer-centric - showcases an empathetic approach to user problem solving; enjoys improving designs and workflows for better user experience.
• Professional with a demonstrated record of the highest integrity and ethical conduct.
• Bachelor’s degree. Need not be in a technical field.

Aceli Africa is a donor-funded, data-driven agribusiness market incentive facility with a mandate to mobilize $1.5 billion in private sector lending for agricultural SMEs in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia by 2029. To achieve this goal, Aceli offers financial incentives to increase the risk appetite of 40+ global and local financial institutions to make loans ranging from USD $15K-$1.75M to inclusive agricultural SMEs. Since launching in September 2020, Aceli has supported its financial institution partners in making 3,000+ loans to SMEs creating market linkages for over 1Million smallholder farmers. Leading bilateral and philanthropic donors, including Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Global Affairs Canada, IKEA Foundation, Norwegian Agency for Development, Swiss Development Corporation, UK FCDO, and USAID, have committed over $93 million to Aceli for 2020-29.

The role will report to the Senior Associate, Salesforce Engineer and is a full-time position with Aceli Kenya, a Company Limited by Guarantee registered under Kenyan law, and affiliated with Aceli Africa, a US nonprofit entity.
