Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

As a navigation sensors engineer, you will support the integration and testing of the Nyx navigation sensors – Inertial measurement Unit (IMU), GNSS Receiver, Star Tracker and LiDAR – ensuring seamless integration and performance of the Navigation Sensing Suite (NSS) functional chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supplier Coordination

    • Interface with suppliers, including technical exchanges, specification discussions and schedule management.

    • Coordinate supplier visits and potential joint activities.

    • Support qualification reviews.

  • Project Coordination

    • Interface with internal teams for integration and testing.

    • Support project development logic, planning, risk assessment, and technical reviews.

  • Integration & Testing

    • In alignment with the Guidance, Control & Navigation (GNC), Flight Software (FSW) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) teams, define and execute verification and validation plans (unit-, subsystem-, and system-level tests).

    • Support the integration of the navigation sensors with other subsystems of the spacecraft.

    • Carry out unit-level incoming inspection tests.

    • Ensure correct configuration and configuration management of each unit.

  • Documentation & Standards Compliance

    • Produce detailed documentation for architecture description, analysis, test procedures, test reports.

    • Contribute to reviews with customers and certification authorities for the Navigation Sensing Suite (NSS).

    • Ensure compliance with space-grade standards (NASA-STD, ECSS).


Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Aeronautics/Aerospace Engineering, or related field.

  • Experience: recent graduate or entry-level. Experience in sensor technology, testing, or systems engineering is a plus.

  • Good level of understanding of the following domains:

    • Navigation, Guidance and Control

    • Navigation sensors

    • Hardware testing

  • Proficiency with simulation and software development tools (e.g. Python, Github, C/C++).

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.

  • Fluent in English; ability to write clear technical specifications and reports. French and German are a plus.


Desirable Skills

  • Experience with spacecraft or aircraft platforms.

  • Experience with testing.

  • Experience with navigation sensors.

  • Experience with GNC-code implementation.
