Backend Lead Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Lead to join our Centre of Excellence (COE) team, delivering scalable backend solutions for multiple clients. This role demands deep technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a hands-on approach to architecture and development using Java or Python, with added preference for Temporal.io experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the backend architecture and development efforts across client projects
• Design scalable, maintainable, and high-performance APIs and microservices
• Collaborate closely with frontend teams, DevOps, and product managers
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence
• Contribute to code reviews, CI/CD, and deployment best practices

Must-Have Skills:

• 7+ years of backend development experience in Java or Python
• Proven experience with microservices architecture
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and asynchronous workflows
• Temporal.io experience – 1 year minimum is acceptable
• Expertise in RESTful APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Experience leading development teams or projects

Nice-to-Have:

• Exposure to multiple client delivery in a COE setup
• Familiarity with DevOps, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and event-driven systems
