GreenThumb Operations is the field operations unit of GreenThumb. The team is responsible for community garden support and restoration, as well as all heavy-duty work such as, deliveries, construction, demolition, tree pruning, planting, fence and sidewalk repair done in over 550 community gardens.
Major Responsibilities
- Under close supervision, perform operations functions of GreenThumb as directed, such as community garden maintenance and restoration, material pick-up and delivery, pest and invasive species management, construction/demolition/carpentry, snow and ice removal, site clearing and preparation, fencing and sidewalk repairs, tree pruning, plantings and various related activities.
- Operate a wide range of vehicles and field power equipment, such as trucks and trailers, tractors, loaders, mowers, weedwhackers, snow blowers, chain saws and more.
- Take part in all assigned projects as directed, including construction, demolition, planting, pruning and concrete mixing and spreading.
- Implement ecological restoration and garden restoration projects as directed.
- Respond as part of a team to citywide efforts as needed and help set up and break down for events
- Assist with maintenance and repair of an inventory of tools, equipment, vehicles and other types of motorized equipment.
- Support community/garden education-based projects and events with GreenThumb.

Qualification Requirements
1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.
2. A Motor Vehicle Driver's License valid in the State of New York is required.
3. Ability to read and to understand and obey orders is required.
