Role Purpose

PHMG is entering a defining growth chapter. Now that we’re employee-owned, you’re not just doing the work, you’re helping build what comes next. We’re certified a Great Place to Work, and we’re growing beyond our audio heritage into a broader suite of client communication tools. Big milestones are coming this year and we are shaping a new era of communication at PHMG.

As our Communications Manager, you will own and elevate the channels, content and tools that connect our 700+ colleagues worldwide. You’ll work closely with the Head of Internal Communications to build a cohesive narrative, support business transformation, and ensure every employee understands our goals, values and progress. You will also manage two Communications Executives, ensuring content, campaigns, and events are delivered to a consistently high standard.

Responsibilities

Channel ownership and digital employee experience

  • Own and continuously improve PHMG’s internal communication channels, including email bulletins, MS Teams, town halls, and a stronger video content ecosystem that colleagues genuinely want to watch. This includes formats such as leadership fireplace chats, quick updates, colleague spotlights, behind the scenes moments, and campaign and launch content, ensuring communications are clear, consistent and genuinely useful.
  • Development of our digital employee experience approach, including governance, templates, channel strategy and clear posting standards.
  • Establish and manage editorial calendars and channel rhythms so the right messages reach the right audiences at the right time.
  • Build communication journeys that support business transformation, helping colleagues understand PHMG’s expansion and what it means for our teams, clients and future growth.

Content creation and storytelling

  • Craft high impact content across articles, scripts, leadership messages, toolkits, FAQs, presentations and campaigns.
  • Translate business updates into clear, meaningful narratives that build confidence, momentum and connection, especially during fast-moving change.
  • Champion stories that reinforce culture, celebrate progress, and build pride in our employee-owned model.

Employee ownership communications and engagement

  • Develop and deliver communications that strengthen understanding of employee ownership, the Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) and how colleagues can get involved.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to land ownership-related updates with transparency, clarity and credibility.
  • Embed employee ownership messaging into key moments and milestones across the year, ensuring it feels relevant, real and lived.

Strategic business partnering and change communications

  • Act as a trusted communications partner to key functions, including Sales, Client Services, People, IT and Leadership, aligning messaging and shaping plans.
  • Lead internal communications for change programmes, technology rollouts and transformation projects, building plans that drive adoption and reduce ambiguity.
  • Coach stakeholders on channel choice, tone, sequencing and the reason behind the message, so communications feel joined up and audience-first.

Internal events, strategy, planning and delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end planning and delivery of internal events, including town halls, cultural moments, engagement campaigns and celebrations.
  • Own run of show planning, speaker preparation, scripts, communications plans, content capture and post-event follow up.
  • Ensure events help colleagues feel informed, included and connected to the bigger direction, particularly during a year of major business moments and announcements.

Data, insight and continuous improvement

  • Define and track KPIs, including reach, engagement, sentiment and time to action, then turn insight into improvements.
  • Build a practical measurement rhythm focused on what is working, what is not, and what we should evolve next.

Leadership and team management

  • Line manage and develop the Internal Communications team, setting direction, standards and priorities with support from the Head of Communications.
  • Create a supportive, high-performing team culture with clear goals, feedback loops and strong collaboration.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as an Communications Manager, in employee engagement, and/or change communications.
  • Strong channel management experience, including enterprise social, intranet or employee platforms, chat platforms, email, events, and video content.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, able to simplify complexity without losing meaning.
  • Strong stakeholder management, able to influence, challenge constructively, and bring people with you.
  • Experience managing internal events and campaigns end-to-end.
  • Line management experience, or clear readiness to step into it.
  • Desirable: experience communicating ownership models, culture programmes, CSR initiatives, or transformation narratives.

Key Attributes

  • Strategic and pragmatic, sees the long-term story and executes brilliantly day-to-day.
  • Clear, calm and credible in moments of change.
  • Naturally curious, asks the questions that unlock clarity.
  • Inclusive communicator, writes and plans for diverse audiences across regions, roles and seniority.
