Company Accountant - Remote Position

Role Overview

• Position: Company Accountant

• Location: Remote (East Coast Australia based)

• Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week (12 month Fixed term contract)

• Reports to: Head of Finance

• Salary: $100k - 120k pa (pro rata) + Superannuation

We're seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to help us support our cutting-edge team of software technologists. This role combines traditional accounting responsibilities with analytical capabilities to support our financial operations and strategic decision-making in a distributed work environment.

About the Role

You'll manage day-to-day financial operations while providing data-driven insights to support business growth. Working with modern tools like Xero and Harvest, you'll ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Remote Work Environment Work from anywhere on Australia's East Coast with flexible hours and remote work support.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations

• Master daily AR, AP, and general ledger operations with flawless bank reconciliations

• Streamline invoicing processes and ensure accurate expense capture with Dext

Compliance & Reporting

• Navigate multi-state payroll tax and Workers Compensation requirements

• Coordinate Australian R&D and tax compliance with external accountants

Financial Analysis

• Create P&L reports by consultant and build dynamic financial dashboards

• Monitor utilisation rates and uncover cost-saving opportunities

Systems Management

• Optimise Harvest time tracking and develop efficient finance policies

• Ensure seamless employee onboarding into financial systems

Requirements

Essential Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance + 3+ years experience

• Xero accounting software expertise and advanced Excel skills

• Multi-state payroll tax, workers compensation, and multi-currency knowledge

• Australian R&D taxation regulation understanding + current Criminal Record check

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CA qualification
