As a Data Analyst, you will serve as the primary data partner to the Mission Operations Engineers, responsible for turning raw mission, system, and operational data into clear, actionable insights that support execution, planning, and continuous improvement. This role sits at the intersection of field operations, engineering, and reporting by owning post-mission data workflows, tracking asset and personnel utilization, and providing visibility into mission performance and operational health across test sites. You will deliver reliable analyses, utilization reporting, and incident tracking, enabling engineers and leadership to make informed decisions quickly and keep the organization aligned as operations scale.
Responsibilities:
How you support the missionMaintain a mission operations data dictionary and KPI definitions (metric definitions, calculations, assumptions, and source-of-truth systems) to ensure consistent reporting across sites and teamsCreate automated or semi-automated anomaly detection and alerts (e.g., downtime spikes, utilization bottlenecks, repeated incident categories, missing data) to surface operational blockers earlyEnable rapid post-test decision-making by transforming raw mission and system data into actionable insights for daily, weekly, and program-level decision forums in the form of reportsIntegrate external constraints (e.g., site restrictions, weather impacts, access limitations) into operational reporting and proactively communicate impacts to stakeholdersPartner closely with Mission Operations Engineers to understand test objectives, mission profiles, configurations, and success criteria prior to data collectionTrack and analyze vessel utilization, personnel allocation, and test-site activity to provide visibility into operational capacity and efficiencyTrack incident review items and asset downtime across test sites, maintaining accurate records and ensuring issues are routed to the appropriate forums for review, prioritization, and actionSupport administrative and planning functions by producing utilization reports that inform resourcing decisions, test scheduling, and cross-site coordination
How you support the teamReduce analytical and reporting burden on Mission Operations Engineers by owning post-mission data download, organization, and initial analysis by developing and maintaining on-going dashboards and self-serve views tailored to specific audiencesDeliver timely, accurate summaries that allow engineers to quickly assess mission outcomes and focus on follow-on actionsInterface with Mission Ops Engineers to translate raw operational data into insights tailored to different audiences, from engineers to department leadershipEnable the department to scale by standardizing and automating recurring data and reporting workflows

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field3+ years in a data analyst, operations analyst, or similar role supporting technical or operational teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using enterprise software (Salesforce, Palantir) to track operational data, issues, and workflows to enable follow-on actionExperience with test management platforms (TestRail, Nominal, Foxglove) to support test execution tracking and results reportingExperience with data management and analytics platforms (Databricks) to query large datasets and develop insights or dashboardsExperience with cloud-based environments (Amazon AWS), for data access, storage, or analysis workflowsExperience and ability to work with structured and semi-structured data formats in the form of MCAP and JSON filesExperience with project management tools (Linear, Confluence, SharePoint) to support task tracking workflows, prioritization and cross-team coordinationExperience extracting and analyzing information out of massive, complex and, in some cases, poorly documented datasetsExperience validating data integrity, handling incomplete or inconsistent datasets, and maintaining traceability across data sources and reporting outputsFamiliarity with metrics associated with maritime operations and autonomy systems, including DoD requirements and standards for autonomous systemsStrong track record in creative and complete reporting to influence others across organizational lines, internally and externally; must be able to showcase previous reporting efforts via portfolioStrong written and verbal communication skills, ability to make presentations to team members, internal customers and managementProficiency with documentation and communication tools, (Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Lucidchart) for producing clear reports and briefingsAbility to work both autonomously and as a team in a highly demanding and fast-paced environment; capability to prioritize multiple ongoing projectsDemonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundariesDemonstrated history of self-learning & application of newly learned tools & techniquesStrong track record for achieving results; must be able to reference wins and quantify impact
