We are seeking a Water Resources Civil Design Engineer to support planning and design efforts for a diverse range of development and infrastructure projects. This role offers hands-on exposure to technical design, multidisciplinary coordination, and project delivery while working closely with experienced engineers in a collaborative team environment. Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and a California E.I.T. certification are strong assets, along with a proactive mindset and eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, design, and analysis of water resources projects, including drainage systems, stormwater management facilities, flood control improvements, and hydraulic infrastructure
  • Prepare hydrology and hydraulic calculations and develop stormwater, drainage, and erosion control plans using standard engineering practices and software tools
  • Develop water resources design drawings and technical exhibits using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D in accordance with local agency standards, codes, and permitting requirements
  • Support the preparation of water resources studies, technical memoranda, feasibility analyses, and planning documents for public and private sector projects
  • Participate in internal design reviews and coordinate with senior engineers to incorporate technical feedback, agency comments, and constructability considerations
  • Assist in the development of technical specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates to support project proposals and construction documentation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and outside agencies to support permitting efforts and ensure project milestones are met

Requirements

    • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited curriculum
    • EIT or FE certification preferred
    • 2-3 years of experience in drainage and stormwater design
    • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
    • Familiarity with preparing documents, specifications, and design plans
    • Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills
    • Exposure to public agency standards and permitting processes
    • Ability to apply standard engineering techniques and judgment to support project

Physical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.

Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.

  • The typical base salary range for this position is $73,000.00 - $97,000.00, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is a salary position paid biweekly.
