Director of Behavioral Health Services
Position: Full-Time
Salary: $180,000 – $200,000 per year
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Oakland, CA
Role Overview
The Director of Behavioral Health Services leads the clinical and operational direction of a growing behavioral health program within a community health clinic serving the BIPOC population. This role oversees licensed providers, shapes care delivery, ensures regulatory compliance, and strengthens access to mental health services. Day to day, this leader balances people management, program development, and strategic planning to support patients, clinicians, and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for behavioral health clinical programs
- Supervise and support licensed therapists, clinicians, and supervisors
- Ensure services meet state, federal, and accreditation standards
- Develop workflows that improve access, quality of care, and outcomes
- Partner with medical leadership on integrated care initiatives
- Monitor program performance, reporting, and quality improvement efforts
- Support staff development, training, and retention
- Collaborate with community partners and internal stakeholders
Requirements
- Master’s degree or higher in Behavioral Health, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
- Active California clinical license (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, PsyD, or PhD)
- Minimum 5 years of behavioral health leadership or management experience
- Experience working in community health, public health, or underserved populations
- Strong knowledge of compliance, clinical documentation, and quality standards
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
