The Director of Product Management is responsible for leading the team that turns the CEO’s product vision into a clear, actionable roadmap. In this role, you will oversee the creation of PRDs, Epics, and User Stories, and manage the full product development lifecycle from discovery through release. This is a hands-on, player‑coach position where you will lead the team while also contributing directly to product work when needed.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Product Managers and a Product Designer.
- Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Product Roadmap Management
- Own and maintain a detailed product roadmap in Jira.
- Set up workflows, manage dependencies, and provide reporting for internal visibility.
- Ensure real-time updates to scope, priorities, and timelines.
Product Development Execution
- Oversee all phases of the product lifecycle: discovery, requirements, design, development, QA, acceptance, and documentation.
- Work closely with Engineering, Design, QA, and Customer Success to deliver complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Identify and resolve risks, blockers, and dependencies to keep projects on track.
Quality Assurance & Alignment
- Review user stories, backlogs, and sprint progress across four software development teams.
- Ensure clarity, completeness, and alignment with product goals.
- Collaborate with QA and Product Design to define and maintain quality standards, including usability, performance, and defect thresholds.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a customer advocate by engaging directly with key customers to validate needs.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to gather and prioritize feedback.
- Communicate progress, risks, and milestones to leadership and other stakeholders.
Risk Management
- Monitor project risks and adjust plans to minimize impact while maintaining delivery momentum.
Success Measures
- Product development meets or exceeds timelines, quality expectations, and customer satisfaction goals.
- Product launches are delivered on schedule and aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Stakeholders receive clear, consistent communication on progress and risks.
- The product team is engaged, high-performing, and growing in capability.
- You uphold organizational values and maintain high standards for UI/UX, urgency, and execution.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Product Management experience in a software environment.
- 2+ years of experience managing Product Managers.
- Hands-on experience writing and testing user stories.
- Strong balance of strategic thinking and tactical execution.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in managing complex, cross-functional work.
- Deep experience with Agile methodologies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, standups, retrospectives).
- Passion for delivering high-quality products with intuitive, user-friendly UI/UX.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
