The Director of Product Management leads United Educators’ product development and management function, providing strategy for the full property and casualty portfolio. The Director drives the vision, design, and performance of UE’s products through data-informed decision-making, market insight, and collaborative leadership. This position ensures that products remain profitable and relevant while advancing UE’s mission and strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead UE’s product management function with strategic and operational oversight, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, risk appetite, and market strategy.
  • Develop and execute product strategies that integrate market intelligence, regulatory insight, and member needs to achieve growth and profitability objectives.
  • Oversee drafting, review, and revision of policy forms, endorsements, underwriting guidelines, and applications to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Translate product performance data into actionable strategic insights that inform underwriting, pricing, and risk management decisions.
  • Shape and maintain UE’s product roadmap through collaboration with Underwriting, Resolutions, Actuary, Legal, and IT, ensuring product design supports operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Identify and evaluate market gaps, emerging risks, and innovation opportunities; champion modernization of product processes and technologies to enhance member value and competitiveness.
  • Direct and mentor the Product Management team, building a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to address complex product and market challenges, resolving obstacles and aligning stakeholders toward shared goals.
  • Represent Product Management in enterprise planning discussions, advising leadership on product performance, market trends, and risk appetite.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and UEX to articulate product value and ensure consistency in UE’s messaging and delivery.
  • Foster continuous improvement in product lifecycle management, leveraging data, technology, and process design to streamline product development and maintenance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or designations (MBA, CPCU, or similar) preferred
  • 12–15 years of relevant experience, including 7+ years in commercial insurance (property, casualty, professional, and general liability) and at least 4 years in product management or an equivalent role
  • Staff management experience preferred
  • Proven expertise in policy drafting and interpretation for liability products
  • Strong understanding of P&C underwriting, pricing, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute product strategies based on data and market insight
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives in dynamic, matrixed environments
  • Ability to travel periodically for member and broker engagement

Employees can make pre-tax contributions or taxed (Roth) salary reductions. Catch-up contributions for employees 50 years old and over. Employer contributions are fully vested immediately

  • Short- and Long-Term Disability Insurance — We offer coverage in the event employees are unable to work for a period of time
  • For the first two years of employment, employees accrue PTO at 24 days per year. At the beginning of the third year of service, employees accrue 30 days per year of PTO
  • 11 paid holidays annually including Juneteenth and an employee choice floating holiday
  • Bonus eligibility is based on salary earned and performance for the year

The below annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
