Seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design, operation, analysis, and maintenance of electrical systems serving central plant and building infrastructure. This role focuses on power distribution, control systems, protection schemes, and energy-efficient operation of utility equipment. Responsibilities include evaluating existing electrical systems and designs to improve performance, reliability, energy efficiency, and resilience across a variety of building systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in:
  • Medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, including load calculations, short-circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and coordination studies
  • Electrical equipment such as generators, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, panelboards, motors, pumps, compressors, and fans
  • Electrical controls and automation, including integration with building automation systems
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed evaluations of electrical systems through field assessments and review of drawings, single-line diagrams, control schematics, and technical documentation
  • Develop projects to enhance system efficiency and resilience, including preparation of project scopes, plans, budgets, and technical specifications
  • Conduct root-cause analyses of electrical system failures and performance issues
  • Understand and support acceptance testing and ongoing maintenance testing such as infrared thermography, insulation resistance testing, and breaker timing tests
  • Apply applicable electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards (including NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE standards) to ensure compliance in recommended solutions
  • Identify inefficiencies and energy waste across lighting, HVAC systems, motors, controls, and other electrical components
  • Prepare detailed technical reports outlining findings, recommendations, implementation strategies, and potential cost savings for stakeholders
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences and provide customer-facing support as needed
  • Stay current with advancements in electrical engineering, energy efficiency technologies, and regulatory requirement
  • Qualifications

  • Candidates must meet one of the following combinations:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of experience supporting building or site electrical systems
  • Associate degree or equivalent technical education with a minimum of 10 years of experience working with electrical systems

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Relevant industry certifications such as:
  • InterNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA) Level 3 or Level 4
  • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET)
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Energy audits and efficiency studies
  • Microgrids and distributed energy resources (e.g., solar, battery energy storage)
  • Life-cycle cost analysis
  • Preparation and delivery of formal multimedia presentations
  • Training and mentoring technical staff
