EXPANSIA is excited to design, implement, and mature a secure, scalable Integrated Digital Environment (IDE) that enables Digital Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) integration across the developing US Hypersonic enterprise and industrial base. Located at the new aerospace research and test complex, this facility is poised to become the nation’s premier hub for hypersonic system research, modeling & simulation, and test capabilities. 

As a Data Engineer IV, you will build advanced systems that collect, manage, and transform raw data into meaningful, accessible information that drives decision-making across the organization. You will serve as an emerging authority who applies extensive technical expertise to solve complex data challenges. In this role, you will work with diverse data platforms, databases, and tools to ensure the organization’s data assets are optimized for accuracy, accessibility, and performance. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, engineers, business owners, and external clients to define data needs and deliver actionable insights. You will develop and execute the strategies, policies, and practices that improve and protect the organization’s data quality and architecture. You will investigate data quality issues, lead root-cause analyses, and drive the development of new prototypes and innovative solutions. You will exercise considerable latitude in determining approaches and technical solutions, ensuring the continuous advancement of data systems. You will contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives that enhance the value and integrity of the organization's data and information assets. 

The proposed salary range for this position is$125,941- $157,425. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications. RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Build, maintain, and optimize systems that collect, store, process, and convert raw and complex data into usable formats for analytics and reporting 
  • Manage and coordinate internal and external data collection, normalization, compilation, and standard analysis across diverse platforms and projects 
  • Develop, evaluate, and test scalable data solutions that support organizational goals and data-driven decision-making 
  • Create and implement plans, policies, and practices that ensure data protection, quality, delivery, and value across all data programs 
  • Investigate data quality issues, conduct root-cause analysis, resolve errors, and design process improvements and prototypes 
  • Process, clean, and structure unstructured or complex datasets to prepare them for analysis and insight generation 
  • Integrate innovative tools, algorithms, and techniques into existing data systems in partnership with engineering teams 
  • Design, build, and execute complex data projects focused on collecting, parsing, managing, analyzing, and visualizing large datasets 
  • Determine software and hardware architecture needs and guide decisions to support system performance and scalability 
  • Serve as a data subject matter expert and collaborate with business owners and external clients to define analytical approaches and deliver insights 
  • Generate operational and specialized reports supporting business initiatives and present complex findings to stakeholders in clear, actionable ways 
  • Maintain, monitor, and enhance the data architecture and information quality across all applications and systems 
  • Recommend and implement improvements to existing data structures, pipelines, and platforms to enhance performance and usability 
  • Provide technical support to operational strategies aligned within your program and initiatives that optimize processes, enhance productivity, and ensure quality across all program functions 
  • Ensure 100% of planned hours are worked and recorded 
  • Identify and forward to your leadership any opportunities that could lead to growth within your work area 
  • Participate in growth efforts as requested 
  • Ensure all contractual deliverables are met/exceeded to the customer's satisfaction 
  • Complete personal PDP and attend Staff Meeting and Storytime (with camera on) 
  • Within your program, build productive and positive professional relationships with clients 
  • Execute all contract requirements as assigned in accordance with the contract specific LCAT and requirements 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 
  • KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clearance: Active Secret clearance 
  • Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 8–10 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 6–8 years of experience 

  • Advanced expertise in designing, building, and maintaining data warehouses, pipelines, and large-scale distributed data systems 
  • Strong proficiency with modern database technologies, ETL/ELT frameworks, and big data tools 
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and develop innovative, scalable data solutions 
  • Experience applying data governance, quality management, metadata management, and security best practices 
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering such as Python, SQL, or Scala 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate data from multiple systems and identify optimization opportunities 
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences 
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization, and modern DevOps practices 
  • PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience integrating machine learning algorithms into production data systems 
  • Certification in cloud platforms, data engineering, or database technologies 
  • Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies 
  • Working knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar 
  • Experience supporting government, defense, or contractual data environments 
  • Google Cloud Data Engineer, AWS Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer Associate
