Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking an Electrical Reliability Engineer 1 for a top Chemical/Industrial Manufacturing leader in Pensacola, FL.
This role serves as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all electrical distribution systems and assets. You will be responsible for the design, reliability, and maintenance of a complex electrical infrastructure ranging from low to high voltage, including turbogenerators, substations, and VFDs. The goal of this position is to champion long-term reliability strategies that improve MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), maximize site safety, and directly impact the facility's bottom-line profitability through innovative problem-solving.
Job Responsibilities
- Asset Strategy & Reliability: Develop and improve asset care strategies for electrical distribution equipment to increase on-stream reliability and lower maintenance costs.
- PM/PdM Ownership: Own the preventive and predictive maintenance programs for low, medium, and high voltage equipment, including transformers, protection relays, switchgear, and UPS systems.
- Electrical Safety Leadership: Provide oversight and expertise for site electrical safety compliance to NFPA 70E, NEC, IEEE, and electrical classification requirements.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Provide hands-on technical support for the operation and maintenance of the plant’s motor testing programs and turbogenerators.
- Failure Analysis: Lead formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations into electrical equipment failures and develop effective corrective actions.
- Capital Planning & Outages: Develop maintenance work scopes for plant turnarounds and equipment outages; provide justification for equipment upgrades within the plant capital plan.
- Regulatory Compliance: Act as the technical reviewer for Management of Change (MOC) and ensure all site activities comply with code, company standards, and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
- System Management: Utilize SAP to manage the predictive/preventative maintenance system and track equipment "Bad Actors" for mitigation planning.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering is REQUIRED.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) or more years of experience in Low, Medium, and High Voltage hardware and distribution systems.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting.
- Demonstrated history of developing and implementing reliability programs and procedures.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Engineering Studies: Knowledgeable in load flow, arc flash, surge suppression, relay coordination, and ground grid design.
- Codes & Standards: Proficient in engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Systems: Working knowledge of SAP for maintenance management.
- Reliability Tools: Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance (PdM) practices and Root Cause Analysis.

- Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while acting as a collaborative SME across multidisciplinary teams.
