In this role, you will lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for building and scaling a cutting-edge observability and data platform. You will oversee all aspects of backend system development, including query execution, optimization, and distributed systems architecture. The position combines hands-on technical contribution with people leadership, mentoring engineers, driving roadmap execution, and fostering a culture of excellence and ownership. Accountabilities:

Lead, hire, and mentor a team of backend engineers focused on distributed systems and database internals

Own execution and delivery of team roadmaps, timelines, and quality metrics

Collaborate with product management and engineering leadership to define and prioritize technical initiatives

Participate in code and design reviews to maintain high engineering standards

Foster a strong engineering culture emphasizing ownership, excellence, and accountability

Support field engineering and customer-facing technical requirements when needed

Continuously raise the technical bar and drive innovation within the team

Requirements:

8+ years of engineering experience with at least 2 years in an engineering management role

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Hands-on experience with large-scale distributed systems and database internals

Strong technical leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to grow and inspire a team

Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to cross-functional stakeholders

Proven ability to manage delivery, execution, and roadmap planning in an engineering environment

Bonus: history of open-source contributions or committer experience on data-related projects
