An Engineering Manager is a product and technology leader at Todyl, and fundamentally decides how their group of teams run and are accountable for the success of their teams.
You'll collaborate closely with Product, Security and Architecture leaders as your core partnership team, tackling complex security challenges that directly impact our customers.
Working within Todyl's product vision, you'll provide direction and clarity across the 1-3 engineering teams in your organization.
You'll bring deep technical insight combined with strong customer empathy and product understanding to drive strategic decisions within your leadership group.
You'll work with engineering leaders across Todyl to strengthen our development practices and delivery capabilities. Our platform handles critical security workloads that push the limits of our infrastructure and tooling.
You'll maintain high standards for your teams while taking time to understand root causes before making judgments.
You'll coach your direct reports to develop the engineering and leadership principles they need to advance in their careers.
You’ll share on-call responsibilities with your teams, stepping in as needed for escalations and guidance.
You'll represent Todyl's mission and engineering culture to potential hires, playing an active role in sourcing and recruiting top talent to join our teams.
Important note: Engineering managers at Todyl begin their role by spending approximately 3 months working as an individual contributor alongside the team they'll be leading. Additionally, they re-embed as ICs for 1 sprint quarterly to stay technically current. Activecoding and hands-on technical involvement are core expectations of this position. A coding assessment will be part of our interview process. Please feel free to ask any questions about this approach during your interviews.
We don’t expect Engineering Managers to have in-depth knowledge across our entire tech stack, but familiarity with the following areas would be helpful in this specific role of SRE & Data Platform Engineering Manager. Most importantly, a strong technical background with the ability and willingness to learn new technologies as needed.

Salary range for this position is $180,000-220,000 and the actual annual salary for this role will depend on each candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location of work, with most new hires placed near the midpoint of the posted range to ensure fairness and consistency across our team.
