Job title: Firmware Developer(Automotive)

Job Location: Bangalore.

Role Summary

The Firmware Developer actively participates in the definition, specification, development, documentation, maintenance, and verification of firmware designs, for one or more assigned design projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain existing and new product firmware designs. Help to identify, specify, and plan tasks he is assigned by the project lead. Provide technical expertise for an accurate determination of costs, delays, and risks related to the project.
• Co-ordinate and support project team firmware related activities. Organizes the review process with other developers and leads the verification phase of the design process.
• Respect all duties and procedures included in the Development Process Model (NPD and EDPM), and be involved in defining, improving, and applying the development practices.
• Work autonomously but provide regular feedback to the project lead. Provide notification about any identified problem or risk.
• Perform all required actions or tasks to reach objectives defined at the project plan stage in terms of timeframe, effort, and quality.
• Participate in design reviews.
• Provide technical leadership/training in areas of expertise.
• Maintain department tools and/or lab facilities, where applicable
• Support internal and external department/customer requests, appropriately.
• Contribute to company, team, and personal continuous improvement initiatives.
• Understand, support and contribute to current Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
• Ability to adjust to global work environment, supporting multiple time zones.

Scope

Assigned to one or more projects. Accountable for the successful design, development, and release of new products, as well as some maintenance on existing products. Assists the project lead with the evaluation of the design. Responsible for the estimation of effort for all assigned tasks, as well as the quality of all tasks.

Qualification:

Required

Electronics, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science degree, diploma, or equivalent.

Preferred

Electronics or Computer Engineering degree.

Experience

Minimum 2 years experience in a firmware development role that includes some experience supporting new hardware designs

Skill Sets & Competencies :

Required

· Competency in C programming language

· Experience using non-Windows operating systems (eg. Linux, QNX, VxWorks, ECOS)

· Familiarity with 2+ firmware development environments

· Familiarity with debugging complex firmware

· Familiarity with developing test software for use during firmware debugging

· Familiarity with the assembly programming language

· Familiarity with the C++ programming language

· Familiarity with using test equipment (eg. oscilloscope, logic analyzer)

· Familiarity with design verification/validation methodologies

· Competency in general use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Competency in configuration management methods

· Ability to communicate technical information to an audience of any experience level

· Ability to work well individually and as part of a team

· Demonstrable initiative toward continuous improvement

· Good level of English (technical)

Preferred

· Experience developing hardware, firmware, software, testware.

· Familiarity with networking protocols (eg. TCP/IP, UDP, Some/IP DoIP )

· Some project management experience

• Ability to provide project leadership through the implementation of the project lead duties
• Fluent English
• Real time operating systems knowledge
• Some experience in another language (C++, C#, VB.NET, …)
