TITLE: Nurse Practitioner
LOCATION: Metro Atlanta Location: Cobb, Gwinnett, and East Atlanta Village
REPORTS TO: Medical Director/Associate Medical Director and Health Center Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SALARY: $53.50/hour
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the medical supervision of the Medical Director/Associate Medical Director and administrative supervision of the Health Center Manager, the Nurse Practitioner will function in an expanded role as the primary provider of medical services. Carries full responsibility for the initiation and maintenance of patients seeking reproductive healthcare and family planning services. Functions within the medical protocols established within the Medical Standards and Guidelines and standing orders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Practice to the top of the license and full extent of the law in accordance with Planned Parenthood Southeast’s Medical Standards and Guidelines (MS&Gs), state and federal laws and regulations, and PPSE’s policies and procedures
Secures a complete health history, including obstetric, gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, sexual, family health, psychosocial, and documents findings accurately and succinctly. At subsequent visits, they will include an interval history and all changes will be documented in the medical record.
Provide patients with appropriate and unbiased information, education and resources related to general health, chronic medical conditions, family planning methods, sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy options and abortion services.
Perform appropriate medical assessment and management for a range of conditions, including but not limited to:
-Breast and pelvic exams;
-STI testing and treatment
-Genital-urinary conditions.
-Hypertension
-Contraception, including IUDs and Nexplanon
Evaluate patient needs, provide treatment options and implement regimens, including administering and prescribing medications.
Perform procedures as trained/privileged, such as ultrasound, IUC insertion/removal, implant insertion/removal, (colposcopy, LEEP, etc.--requires training, and /or proctoring)
Provide medical management for procedure-related complications; assume lead role in the management of emergency situations as necessary.
Order lab tests as indicated, interpret results and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Perform microscopy for vaginal infections, and lab procedures as approved by the Lab Director, and participate in internal and assessments of lab proficiency.
Perform accurate and thorough medical documentation in patient records and clinic logs;and complete patient records in a timely fashion.
Ensure complete and accurate coding for visits/services rendered.
Participate in patient follow-up and referral systems in compliance with indicated treatment plans, notification and reminder requirements and timelines.
Respond to client telephone and electronic inquiries/requests regarding their medical care and condition. ( clinical follow up team will have the primary responsibility for this )
Participate in affiliate training programs by attending scheduled group trainings and meetings, reading and integrating assigned written materials and completing individual CAL modules as required; assist in efforts to train new staff as necessary.
Participate in clinic efforts to achieve customer service, productivity and revenue goals; demonstrate commitment to the center's operating values of patient-centered care, team approach to work and consistent regulatory compliance/inspection readiness.
May have the opportunity to precept/train medical trainees and students within the guidelines of the affiliate program.
Provide medical oversight and training of unlicensed staff as necessary.
Perform other duties as needed/required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduate of an accredited graduate School of Nursing Program
Must comply with licensure requirements for practice capacity and have or obtain a current license in all practicing states
Skills:
Able to communicate effectively, compassionately, and professionally with patients and staff
Excellent bedside manner
Current CPR certification
Comfortable with digital healthcare delivery and management platforms
Demonstrated experience engaging and motivating groups of diverse individuals.
Physical Demands:
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to health centers throughout GA
Able to work some evenings and weekends
Languages Spoken:
English
Spanish (desirable)
