The Registered Nurse will participate in a team approach to patient care providing the highest level of care and support for patients seeking family planning and/or abortion services. The position is primarily administrative and the RN will work in conjunction with providers across the affiliate to ensure continuity of high-quality patient care by overseeing, executing and managing the follow up plans of care for all services provided at PPGP, thus ensuring an excellent patient experience. This position requires flexibility, the ability to multi-task, excellent communication skills and attention to detail. In addition to administrative duties, the RN will also participate in patient care within the Health Center as needed and participate in a rotational on-call schedule for after-hours calls initiated by patients. An unencumbered multi-State RN license is required for this position; if RN does not currently have MSL, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire. This role will be approximately 70% follow-up administration and 30% direct patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administrative - 100%
  • Work with providers and clinicians to sign off on results and initiate the appropriate follow up plan based on patient test results.
  • Initiates contact with patients regarding test results and to ensure proper follow up care per PPGP policy in a timely manner.
  • Answer patient calls regarding post procedure medical questions during clinic hours
  • Ensure appropriate continuation of patient care by handling communication from pharmacies, outside providers, patients, and healthcare staff.
  • Maintains ongoing and appropriate communication with all PPGP staff across the affiliate.
  • ·Work with health center mangers and laboratories to ensure that labs are ordered and resulted correctly.
  • Answers patient questions and educates patients regarding post-operative instructions, contraception and follow-up exams. Provides clients with accurate information regarding PPGP services, including questions pertaining to contraception, options, and funding sources.
  • Participates in rotating on-call schedule for patient questions outside of clinic hours
  • Adheres to PPGP goals and policies regarding professionalism.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all PPGP information, patient nonpublic personal information (NPI) and personal health information (PHI), as well as records directly or indirectly identifying any person currently or formerly receiving services from PPGP. Complies with PPGP confidentiality policies.

  • Requirements

  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Requires an associate’s degree in nursing
  • One to two years prior, relevant work experience
  • Multi-State RN license (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems
  • General knowledge of Quality Assurance, Risk Management and Infection Control standards and policies
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize, understand, accept and appreciate the value of workplace diversity; respect the practices, values, and points of view of other individuals and groups. Be able to communicate with a diverse group of staff from various professional backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with unexpected priority changes and maintain composure under stress.
  • Demonstrate discretion and compassion when dealing patient concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient, personnel, and PPGP information.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including Saturdays and evenings.
  • Effectively support and carry out PPGP’s mission.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing
  • One to two years of relevant experience in Women’s Healthcare. Prior working knowledge of EPIC (EMR) system.
  • Bilingual fluency in written and oral Spanish/English.
  • Prior working experience in critical, peri-operate medical surgery, and/or ambulatory surgery.
  • Prior experience performing and interpreting ultrasound
