Foot and Ankle Orthopedic Surgeon (MD/DO)
Position Summary
The Foot and Ankle Orthopedic Surgeon provides comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care for patients with disorders, injuries, and deformities of the foot and ankle. This role includes evaluation, diagnosis, operative and non-operative management of traumatic, degenerative, and congenital conditions, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered orthopedic care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients with foot and ankle conditions including fractures, arthritis, deformities, tendon disorders, sports injuries, and diabetic foot conditions
- Perform surgical procedures of the foot and ankle consistent with training and privileges, including reconstructive surgery, trauma care, and elective procedures
- Provide non-operative management including injections, bracing, physical therapy, and rehabilitation planning
- Manage perioperative and postoperative care, including complications and long-term outcomes
- Participate in orthopedic trauma or emergency call coverage as required
- Interpret diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRI
- Collaborate with podiatry, sports medicine, primary care, endocrinology, vascular surgery, and rehabilitation services
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgical risks, and expected recovery
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives
- Supervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or clinical staff as applicable
- Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited orthopedic surgery residency program
- Completion of an accredited foot and ankle orthopedic surgery fellowship
- Board-eligible or board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery
- Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
- DEA registration or eligibility

- Hospital operating rooms, outpatient orthopedic clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and inpatient units
- Call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods during surgical procedures
- Manual dexterity and physical stamina for operative care
- Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for clinical and surgical environments
