Norm Ai pioneered Legal Engineering, the process that empowers lawyers to build and supervise domain-specific AI agents with Norm’s proprietary suite of no-code software tools. We hired dozens of lawyers from premier U.S. law firms and trained them as Legal Engineers, who specialize in Large Language Model powered legal workflows.

Norm Ai expects all team members to be fluent in AI. Successful candidates actively use AI in their day-to-day work to support thinking, creation, and problem-solving. They use it to improve the quality and speed of their work and to continuously refine how work gets done end-to-end.
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate and discuss their AI usage throughout the interview process, including concrete examples of tools, workflows, and outcomes. We look for practical, hands-on experience, not theoretical familiarity.
This Role
We are hiring Full Stack Engineers at Senior and Staff levels. As a Full Stack Engineer at Norm AI, you will be integral to the development of our AI-driven compliance solutions. You will work directly with all aspects of our code stack.
Teams
Product Engineering: Product Engineering owns the customer-facing surfaces' of Norm's enterprise application: the workflows, UI, and AI-powered features that make our product indispensable to compliance teams. We're focused on building intuitive, reliable tools that help users get their work done faster and with more confidence.
Full Stack Engineers on the Product Engineering team work across the stack to bring new product ideas to life, partnering closely with design, client engagement, other engineering teams, and users themselves.
Legal Engineering Automation Platform: LEAP is Norm’s proprietary platform for building and configuring AI agents. When a user uploads a document, our agents execute thousands (sometimes tens of thousands) of calls to various language models. LEAP allows subject matter experts to configure our AI to handle a variety of use cases. LEAP strives to give legal professionals access to the latest and greatest in available AI technologies and strategies.
Full Stack Engineers on the LEAP team build complex workflows for legal professionals. Users of LEAP are power users and LEAP engineers often work with users to think about how we can best optimize their day to day usage.
As a Full Stack Engineer at Norm AI you will:
Improve the product–both our client facing enterprise product and in support of our internal legal engineering tools team.
Work on scaling problems–ensure our customers get top-notch availability and reliability on a particularly bursty system.
Remain on pace with emerging AI use cases-constantly push the boundaries of what is possible
Bring product intuition–iterate and obsess over the customer's experience
Skills & Experience - Core
Bachelors or Masters in computer science or an equivalent field, or equivalent practical experience
4+ years experience writing application-layer Python for production use
2+ years experience writing React + TypeScript, or similar for production use
Experience working with a Postgres database or similar
Experience writing APIs using a framework such as FastAPI or similar for production use
Interest or experience in working with a complex AI-driven product, (i.e. streamed outputs, dynamic agentic site navigation, etc)
Interest or experience in working with PDFs, excel, or file-driven products
Skills & Experience - Pluses
Experience dealing with database scaling problems
Experience building highly configured or abstracted UIs tied to editable schemas stored in a database
Experience working with AWS infrastructure or similar
Experience working at an early-stage startup
Excited to work on product and work/iterate with customers

Innovative Design Implementation: Successfully implement and deploy significant features that enhance the AI-forward experience for Norm Ai’s clients
User-Centric Development: Show a deep understanding of customer needs and feedback, translating these insights into tangible improvements in the product
High Agency Ownership: Begin to own initiatives internally as we drive our product forward
Comp & Benefits
Staff: $235,000-$270,000 base + employee equity
Senior: $190,000- $240,000 base + employee equity
The range displayed in this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including job-related skills (as uncovered during the interview process), experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed here reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity or benefits. We offer a competitive salary along with equity compensation.
