You'll drive execution of our conversational AI and agentic AI roadmap, managing a team of talented engineers while remaining hands-on yourself. This role requires both exceptional leadership skills and the ability to roll up your sleeves and solve complex technical problems.  This role is a hybrid position. You must be in our London office two days a week.  Your Impact:  <ul> <li>Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 5-8 GenAI engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and delivery </li> <li>Drive end-to-end execution of conversational AI features that enable users to interact with Anaplan models through natural language </li> <li>Oversee the development of agentic AI systems that can autonomously analyze data, generate insights, and execute planning workflows </li> <li>Own the team's delivery roadmap, working closely with product management to prioritize features and manage technical trade-offs </li> <li>Establish engineering best practices for GenAI development, including testing strategies, evaluation frameworks, and deployment patterns </li> <li>Lead sprint planning, technical design reviews, and retrospectives to ensure consistent delivery velocity and quality </li> <li>Collaborate with AI Solutions Architects to translate architectural vision into executable engineering plans </li> <li>Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for GenAI applications, including automated testing and prompt regression suites </li> <li>Partner with platform teams to ensure AI features integrate seamlessly with Anaplan's core infrastructure </li> <li>Manage technical debt, refactoring initiatives, and platform improvements while maintaining feature delivery momentum </li> <li>Recruit and onboard top engineering talent, conducting technical interviews and building a diverse, high-performing team </li> <li>Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders </li> </ul> Your Qualifications <ul> <li>Software engineering experience with experience leading engineering teams </li> <li>Strong hands-on experience building and deploying GenAI applications in production </li> <li>Deep knowledge of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and conversational AI patterns </li> <li>Experience with agentic frameworks and autonomous agent architectures </li> <li>Proficiency in Python and modern software development practices (testing, code review, CI/CD) </li> <li>Proven track record of delivering complex technical projects on time with high quality </li> <li>Strong project management skills with experience using Agile/Scrum methodologies </li> <li>Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities </li> <li>Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and build cohesive, productive teams </li> <li>Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field </li> </ul>  Preferred Qualifications  <ul> <li>Experience leading teams in fast-growing startups or enterprise software companies </li> <li>Knowledge of financial planning, analytics, or business intelligence domains </li> <li>Experience with RAG systems, vector databases, and semantic search </li> <li>Familiarity with model fine-tuning, evaluation, and continuous improvement workflows </li> <li>Background in distributed systems, microservices, or cloud-native architectures </li> <li>Experience with TypeScript/React for full-stack AI applications </li> <li>Track record of improving engineering velocity and team productivity metrics  </li> </ul> What Makes This Role Exciting  <ul> <li>Lead a greenfield team building transformative AI capabilities from the ground up </li> <li>Work on cutting-edge conversational and agentic AI technologies </li> <li>Shape engineering culture and practices for Anaplan's AI organization </li> <li>Join during a transformative phase as Anaplan embeds AI throughout its platform </li> </ul> #LI-SP1<div class="content-conclusion">Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) We believe attracting and retaining the best talent and fostering an inclusive culture strengthens our business.
