Graphic Designer (Entry–Mid Level, 1–5 Years Experience)

Location: Hybrid / Remote (North America) Preference for Austin or Burnaby, Canada
Team: Marketplace Growth / Brand & Creative
Level: Individual Contributor

About the Role

We’re looking for a highly accountable, execution-oriented Graphic Designer to help create high-impact marketing and brand assets across digital, physical, and video channels at Ritchie Bros..

This role is for a designer who:

  • Moves fast,

  • Owns their work end-to-end, and

  • Holds themselves to a high bar for quality.

You should either:

  • Be classically trained in design (strong design university or program), or

  • Have agency experience producing high-converting ads, creative, and marketing materials tied to measurable outcomes.

Beyond execution, we’re looking for someone who brings ideas—a designer who doesn’t just take direction, but actively looks for ways to elevate concepts, push creative further, and improve how our work shows up in the world.

What You’ll Do

  • Design marketing assets across channels, including:

    • Paid media (social, display, native)

    • Email and lifecycle campaigns

    • Landing pages and web graphics

    • Sales enablement and presentations

    • Event, print, and on-site materials

  • Create and evolve video-first creative, including:

    • Short-form marketing videos (social, paid, lifecycle)

    • Light motion graphics and animated assets

    • Video cutdowns, edits, and adaptations across formats

  • Translate briefs and copy into clear, compelling visual systems

  • Take ownership of your work from concept → execution → iteration

  • Produce fast, iterative creative for testing and optimization (multiple formats, sizes, and variants)

  • Proactively suggest improvements, concepts, and creative extensions—not just execute what’s asked

  • Maintain brand consistency across Ritchie Bros.’ multi-brand ecosystem

  • Collaborate closely with Growth, Brand, Product, and Sales teams

  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate ideation and production (e.g., creative variants, layout exploration, resizing, background removal, image/video enhancements), while maintaining a high bar for craft and quality

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 1–5 years of professional design experience

  • Agency experience or in-house marketing team experience strongly preferred

  • Portfolio demonstrating:

    • Strong layout, typography, and visual hierarchy

    • Marketing/performance creative

    • Digital-first thinking across static and video formats

Design & Video Fundamentals

  • Excellent eye for composition, spacing, color, and typography

  • Strong sense of pacing, storytelling, and clarity in video

  • Ability to simplify complex ideas into clear, customer-friendly visuals

  • Understanding of how design and motion work together to drive engagement

Tools

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

  • Experience with video tools such as After Effects, Premiere Pro, or similar

  • Comfortable working in Figma

  • Comfortable using Canva for fast, templated production

  • Familiarity with asset handoff for web, paid media, and video platforms

Ownership & Working Style

  • Strong sense of accountability for speed and quality

  • Comfortable owning projects end-to-end without heavy oversight

  • Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple projects in parallel

  • Comfortable receiving feedback and pushing work further

  • Brings ideas, not just execution—actively looks for ways to elevate creative

  • Comfortable leveraging AI tools for ideation and automation, while applying human judgment to maintain originality, clarity, and brand standards

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing high-converting ads or growth experiments

  • Motion design or light animation background

  • Familiarity with basic marketing metrics (CTR, CVR, A/B testing)

  • Experience working within a large or multi-brand organization

  • Experience building repeatable creative systems, templates, or workflows

Why This Role Matters

Design at Ritchie Bros. is not about making things “look cool.” It’s about clarity, trust, and performance at scale. You’ll help shape how millions of buyers and sellers experience one of the world’s largest industrial marketplaces—and you’ll see your work directly impact business outcomes.
