Head of Design
Amazon RIVR is a robotics company pioneering Physical AI through real-world doorstep delivery. Founded in 2024 as an ETH Zurich spin-off, RIVR developed wheeled-legged robots designed to operate in complex, unstructured environments such as stairs, gates, doors, and uneven urban terrain. We believe that achieving general physical intelligence requires solving real customer problems in the real world, where robots can learn from rich operational data at scale.
Following our acquisition by Amazon in March 2026, we are continuing this mission with greater reach and speed. By combining custom robot hardware, onboard autonomy, and cloud-based coordination, Amazon RIVR is building the next generation of safe, reliable autonomous robots for last-mile delivery
Job Description
As RIVR’s first dedicated Head of Design, you will shape the way our robotics products are experienced, from industrial design and usability to how our brand and values are reflected in every product. This is a rare opportunity to build both the design function and the design culture from the ground up. You will work hands-on and strategically, prototyping, testing, and refining ideas directly with engineers, while also setting the longer-term design direction. Your work will influence everything from the look and feel of our robots to how our products align with market needs and company vision.
At RIVR, you will join a passionate, multidisciplinary team at the forefront of robotics. You will have the freedom to define the design identity of the company and help shape product strategy.
