About the Team

The Sales Industries Team is building OpenAI’s vertical go to market engine, a critical pillar of how we bring frontier AI into the world’s most complex and economically important sectors.

We work across major industries to help the largest enterprises on the planet deploy AI safely, responsibly, and at scale. Our mandate is to translate frontier model capabilities into industry-specific solutions, workflows, and transformations that create durable, category-defining business outcomes.

This team sits at the intersection of Sales, Product, Partnerships, Policy, and Engineering, and is responsible for shaping how OpenAI engages with key end markets and industries.

About the Role

We are seeking a Head of Sales Industries to build, scale, and lead OpenAI’s global vertical go to market organization. This is a senior, high visibility commercial leadership role charged with defining how OpenAI engages the world’s largest enterprises by industry, and how AI becomes embedded into the core workflows of major sectors.

Success in this role will be defined by deep executive trust, industry-specific pipeline creation, revenue performance, and OpenAI becoming the default AI partner across the world’s most important verticals.

In This Role, You Will

  • Build and lead our Sales Industries organization.

  • Define and own GTM strategy for key verticals, ensuring every major vertical has a clear operating model, value narrative, and executive engagement motion.

  • Cultivate and own C-suite relationships with the world’s most influential enterprises, including CEOs, CIOs, CTOs, CMOs, and Chief Risk Officers, positioning OpenAI as a long-term strategic partner.

  • Drive full-cycle revenue leadership across industries, from pipeline creation and deal structuring through multi-year enterprise agreements and platform-level partnerships.

  • Develop industry-specific narratives, playbooks, and thought leadership that translates frontier AI capabilities into concrete business outcomes for each vertical.

  • Represent OpenAI externally at marquee industry events, executive forums, and regulatory engagements, becoming the public face of OpenAI for key sectors.

  • Partner closely with cross-functionally to shape vertical-specific roadmaps, strategies, and responsible deployment models.

We're seeking someone with experience including:

  • 15+ years of senior enterprise and industry-focused GTM leadership experience, including building and running large, multi-vertical commercial organizations at scaled technology companies.

  • Deep credibility with C-suite buyers and a track record of closing complex, strategic, multi-year partnerships.

  • You know how to run industry motions — including executive advisory boards, industry events, ecosystem partnerships, and thought leadership — not just account sales.

  • You are fluent in translating complex, first-of-its-kind technology into clear, sector-specific value propositions that resonate with both business and technical leaders.

  • You bring strong executive presence, strategic clarity, and operational rigor, and can lead through ambiguity while building new GTM motions from scratch.

  • You care deeply about deploying AI safely, responsibly, and in alignment with human and societal needs, especially in regulated and high-impact industries.
