Health & Safety Manager
Role Responsibilities:
Oversees the company’s Occupational Health, Safety & Wellbeing framework, ensuring a strong safety culture across all airport facilities
Maintains the structure and audit readiness of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OH&S/HSE) in line with national/EU requirements and EASA/ICAO provisions.
Ensures the implementation of risk‑based health, safety, and wellbeing programs across airside, landside, terminals, maintenance, and office areas
Monitors legislative and standards updates and updates policies, procedures, and risk assessments accordingly.
Leads occupational health and wellbeing initiatives (e.g. medical surveillance, workplace hygiene, ergonomics, fatigue/stress management)
Manages OH&S training for employees, contractors and service providers and ensures compliance with certifications and induction requirements.
Ensures mandatory certifications, induction, and record keeping compliance.
Investigates workplace accidents, occupational illnesses, injuries, and near misses and follows up on corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Provides incident reports, statistics, and required documentation to senior management and relevant authorities.
Conducts regular inspections, audits, and workplace risk assessments, ensuring safe working conditions and compliance with internal standards and legal obligations.
Updates the Company Risk Register with assessment findings and tracks implementation progress of recommended measures.
Acts as primary contact for occupational health professionals, external auditors, labor inspectors, and consultants, and follows up on recommendations.
Ensures emergency response plans are established, communicated, and regularly exercised with competent airport authorities/services.
Oversees the OH&S budget, tracks KPIs, and submits periodic reports to management and relevant bodies.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field
Master’s degree in Health & Safety, Risk Management, Occupational Health, or equivalent is considered an asset.
Minimum 7 years of experience in occupational health and safety roles, preferably within aviation, transportation, infrastructure, industrial, or large operational environments.
Proven ability to conduct thorough investigations into health and safety incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Strong knowledge of national H&S legislation, EU Directives, and best practices applicable to complex, regulated environments.
Experience with Health & Safety Management Systems (HSE), including risk assessments, safety audits, and occupational health evaluations.
Recognized H&S professional certification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, or national equivalent).
