Our mission at Atomic Machines is to bring autonomous bits-to-atoms manufacturing of anything at any scale to the world, and we are well on our way. We are developing an entirely new class of manufacturing foundry for micro- and nano-scale machines, and we are using that foundry to create products the world has heretofore been unable to build. Our first device has exceptionally strong and large-scale product-market fit: it is both iconic of what our platform can do and a driver of very significant enterprise scale.
Joining forces with us means becoming part of an incredibly talented, inventive and passionate multi-disciplinary team running hard to make our platform, devices and vision a reality. You will have the opportunity to help define the company from its earliest days. You’ll be challenged to learn and grow as a builder and a leader as the company itself grows rapidly. And you will receive significant equity compensation - you’ll truly be a company owner and benefit financially from our overall success.About The Role:

What You’ll Do:
- Design, implement, and continuously evolve core people programs, including performance reviews, onboarding, manager development, learning & development, and employee relations practices.
- Partner with leaders to translate business goals into a scalable HR roadmap that supports rapid growth.
- Use people data and insights to inform decisions, identify risks and opportunities, and improve employee performance, engagement, and retention.
- Build and sustain a strong company culture by embedding Atomic Machines’ principles into all people programs and practices.
- Lead and resolve complex employee relations matters, conducting thorough, fair, and objective investigations, partnering with our external legal firm as needed.
- Own and optimize HR systems, regularly assessing effectiveness and ensuring we maximize their value as we scale.
- Maintain deep knowledge of California employment laws and best practices, mitigating risk and ensuring compliance; partner with external legal counsel as needed.
- Lead the design and delivery of management and leadership development programs, leveraging AI-enabled tools, learning platforms, and data-driven insights to scale high-quality training and support leaders as the organization grows.
What You’ll Need:
- 5 - 10 years of progressive HR Business Partner or HR leadership experience, ideally within a fast-growing, technical startup environment; hardware experience is a plus.
- A strong passion for people - paired with the ability to balance empathy, business needs, and sound judgment.
- Proven experience designing, launching, and scaling people programs in dynamic organizations.
- A data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency in using metrics and insights to guide decisions.
- A demonstrated ability to maintain a strong “pulse” on employee engagement, culture, and organizational health.
- Deep understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging principles and how to apply them in practice.
- Strong working knowledge of California employment laws and people practices relevant to startup environments.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, including experience partnering with and presenting to senior leaders.
- High discretion, sound judgment, and a strong ethical foundation.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity, change, and competing priorities in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to execute with rigor under pressure.
- Ability to work from our Emeryville or Santa Clara office at least three days per week (daily preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field.
