The Mission

Join our dynamic team at Caylent as a Human Resources (HR) Generalist. We seek a talented professional with 3-5 years of HR experience to lead our People Operationsoperations in the Canadian region, while partnering closely with our U.S. HR and Legal teams to support cross-border workforce needs.

As an HR Generalist at Caylent, you will be critical in nurturing our team’s morale and ensuring our culture and values are consistently upheld. You will be the go-to resource for employees, offering support across a wide range of HR functions while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and best practices.

This role operates in a fast-growing, multinational environment, and requires comfort navigating ambiguity, cross-border employment complexity, and evolving business needs.

Your Assignment

Culture & Team Morale:

  • Foster a positive work environment that reflects Caylent’s culture and core values.

Employee Relations & Support:

  • Serve as your region's primary point of contact for daily employee inquiries regarding company policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Address and resolve complex, specialized, and sensitive employee issues, collaborating with legal and management teams as needed.
  • Oversee and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, ensuring a fair and compliant process.
  • Handling of routine tasks in sensitive situations, such as providing reasonable accommodations and investigating allegations of wrongdoing.
  • Partner with managers and senior leaders to provide practical, risk-aware HR guidance that balances employee experience with business needs.

    • Manage company benefits, leave policies, and compensation programs for your region.
    • Collaborate with payroll vendors to ensure accurate and timely payment to employees, addressing payroll-related questions from employees, particularly in Canada.
    • Act as the primary contact for benefits and compensation-related inquiries in your region.

Compliance & Policy Management:

    • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Regularly review and update company policies and practices to maintain legal compliance and align with best practices.

Learning & Development:

    • Collaborate on and support learning and development initiatives to foster employee growth and enhance team capabilities.
    • Own and improve the onboarding and off-boarding processes, gathering feedback to ensure continuous efficiency and employee experience improvement.

HR Trends & Best Practices:

    • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
    • Proactively introduce innovative HR practices to enhance the overall effectiveness of the HR function.
    • Support HR process and policy changes driven by growth, acquisitions, and evolving compliance requirements.

Your Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of HR experience.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is highly desired.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Payroll, and IT teams in a compliance-driven environment.
  • Ability to interpret HR data, identify trends, and use systems to improve processes and employee experience.
  • Experience supporting U.S. employees or working in a cross-border HR environment is a significant asset.

  • HRIS and Payroll Systems: HRIS systems, Paychex, Bamboo, Deel, Rippling, Employment Hero (Humi)
  • Collaboration and Communication: Slack, Notion, Google Suite, or similar
  • Employee Engagement and Management: Engagement and performance management platforms  (e.g., Lattice)

Base Salary Range: The expected base salary range for this position is CAD 71,000 - CAD 88,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Additional Compensation Components: In addition to the base salary, the compensation package may include bonuses, commissions, equity, and other incentives. The specific components will vary depending on the role and individual and/or company performance.
