Primary Function of Position:

The position IE Manager is responsible for driving medium to large scale process improvements within manufacturing, leading manufacturing ramp up and delivering improvements in process, product manufacturability and ease of assembly. The position will function as a technical, functional and project lead. The functional tools and areas within scope of this role are: design for assembly & serviceability, manufacturing line development, lean manufacturing, metrics, capacity planning and manufacturing line and floor design and six sigma.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Functional management of the IE team, supporting manufacturing.

  • Will be responsible for overall team management and performance.
  • Understand production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing.
  • Cross functionally plan and lead Industrial Engineering projects for manufacturing cells/lines to improve throughput, efficiency and quality metrics. 
  • Ability to motivate and project manage direct reports and cross functional teams on projects from inception to closure.
  • Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks and drive cost effective initiatives focused on yield improvement and capacity enhancement.
  • Provide product and process Design for “X” (Assembly, Manufacturability, Serviceability, Reparability, etc) input to enhance operational processes downstream from design.
  • Analyze and provide solutions for labor cost reduction through process improvements and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Be responsible for the design, collaboration and execution of the layout of the manufacturing building(s) as well as overall process and product flow.
  • Establish and maintain work standards using time studies across all operational processes.
  • Establish and manage proactive ergonomic processes that evaluate, recommend and implement improvements to work area, tools and fixture designs.
  • Creates effective team environment. Is seen as mentor. Influences and models best leadership, where others "follow" and are not "managed".

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Minimum BS degree in an engineering discipline (i.e. IE, EE, ME)
  • Minimum 6+ years of continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 1+ years managing technical personnel or leading project teams
  • Well versed with data systems (SAP, SAP HANA, EDW) and data manipulation and reporting packages (Tableau, Excel)
  • Track record of being able to drive process and cultural change.

Preferred Skills:

  • Possesses superior multi-tasking skills and the ability to lead a team to meet concurrent project deadlines.  
  • Strong communication skills to interface with employees at all levels of the organization. Group presentation skills required.
  • Ability to overcome obstacles to drive change and resolve problems.
  • Working understanding of GMP and GDP practices and requirements
  • Knowledge of cleanroom practices and policies.
  • Facility design and construction management experienced.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target compensation ranges are listed.
