THE WORK:
You'll lead and manage engineering projects from conception to completion.You'll design, develop and test products, systems, or structures.You'll conduct research and analysis to solve complex engineering problems.You'll prepare and review engineering documentation, such as drawings, specifications, and reports.You'll evaluate and select materials and equipment for projects.You'll participate in project planning and management activities.You'll perform calculations and simulations to support engineering designs.You'll collaborate with other engineers, professionals, and stakeholders on project teams.You'll ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, and regulations.You'll mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.You’ll strengthen safety by integrating safety in engineering design and fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes safety in the office and the fieldYou’ll serve as the civil engineer, delivering and supporting projects with construction design drawings, specifications, reports, calculations, and engineering construction supportYou’ll provide technical leadership for civil scoping, cost estimating, and schedulingYou’ll collaborate with multiple internal client contacts (project management, engineering disciplines, construction, environmental, real properties, etc.) and external clients and agencies having jurisdiction over the workYou’ll participate in job walks across this utility territory, including transmission roads, towers, substations, and other facilities. Site visits may involve walking several miles on hilly terrain when vehicle access is unavailable.You’ll travel to jobsites 1-2 days per week on average and report to the client offices daily – Edison Place, 701 9th Street. NW, Washington, DC.You’ll work with engineering contractors including defining scopes of work, reviewing proposals, approving invoices, ensuring quality deliverables and adhering to schedule commitments.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering/Structural Engineering and electrical utility projects10 or more years of experience in civil engineeringSTADD ExperienceProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license in Civil Engineering from a U.S state
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:
Proactive communicator with strong written and verbal communication skillsProven experience communicating clearly with multiple stakeholders via Teams video calls, emails, and in person meetingsExperience collaborating with field personnel and providing engineering construction supportExperience with agency permitting and approvals for engineering construction deliverables
