Interventional Cardiologist (MD/DO)

Must be legally licensed to practice medicine in North Dakota and/or Minnesota, depending on the location of the practice to which you are assigned

Position Summary

The Interventional Cardiologist provides comprehensive cardiovascular care with a focus on catheter-based diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This role includes evaluation and management of patients with coronary and structural heart disease, performance of interventional procedures, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients with coronary artery disease and other cardiovascular conditions
  • Perform interventional cardiology procedures consistent with training and privileges, including diagnostic cardiac catheterization and percutaneous coronary intervention
  • Participate in emergent and elective interventional coverage, including STEMI response as applicable
  • Provide pre-procedural assessment and post-procedural care, including complication management
  • Interpret cardiac diagnostic studies, including coronary angiography and hemodynamic data
  • Collaborate with non-invasive cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiothoracic surgery, emergency medicine, and critical care teams
  • Provide inpatient consultation services and outpatient clinic care
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, procedures, risks, and treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives
  • Supervise and educate fellows, residents, and advanced practice providers as applicable
  • Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
  • Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Disease fellowship
  • Completion of an accredited Interventional Cardiology fellowship
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease
  • Board certification or eligibility in Interventional Cardiology
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
  • DEA registration or eligibility

Work Environment

  • Cardiac catheterization laboratories, hospital inpatient units, and outpatient cardiology clinics
  • Call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during procedures
  • Manual dexterity and stamina for catheter-based interventions
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for procedural and clinical care

Requirements

Must maintain state certification and/or licensure.
