We are seeking an IT Intern to support the development and implementation of a search and analytics solution using OpenSearch. This project focuses on enabling text-based search and analytics across multiple sets of unstructured data to improve visibility, insight, and decision-making. The intern will work cross-functionally with IT Infrastructure, SAP, and MES teams to design data ingestion pipelines, evaluate machine learning capabilities, and deliver meaningful visualizations and dashboards.
Pay range: $14 - 17 per hour
Principle Responsibilities
- Collaborate with IT Infrastructure to support server setup and environment configuration for OpenSearch.
- Work with SAP and MES teams to identify, source, and ingest unstructured data currently stored in systems such as SAP BW and MES.
- Design and implement automated data ingestion pipelines for at least five unstructured data sources, including but not limited to:
- Customer Orders
- Production Data
- Sales Data
- Web-Scraped Data
- MES Data
- Analyze and evaluate OpenSearch machine learning plugins to determine best-fit use cases.
- Support user management, access controls, and security concepts within OpenSearch.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations (charts, graphs, etc.) to present search results and analytics.
- Perform a cost analysis related to scalability and future expansion of the solution.
- Conduct a pro/con analysis comparing OpenSearch capabilities to existing tools such as SAP BW and Power BI.

Experience/Experience
- Pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
- Familiarity with Linux environments, scripting, or programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL) are a plus
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of SAP a plus.
