The successful candidate will assist in the planning, design, and execution of geotechnical investigations and provide technical support, design and reporting for a variety of foundation and pavement engineering projects, including transportation, infrastructure, and major project developments. The Junior Geotechnical Engineer
- Assist in conducting site investigations, soil sampling, and laboratory testing.
- Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater data to support geotechnical design recommendations.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Support the design and assessment of foundations, roadways and pavements, retaining structures, slope stability, and ground improvement solutions.
- Participate in field work, including site supervision, drilling operations and construction monitoring, and support laboratory testing operations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver project objectives on time and within budget. - Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and health & safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated involvement in pavement design, evaluation, and/or foundation engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, soil mechanics, foundation design, and pavement structure analysis.
- Experience with pavement materials testing, subgrade assessment, and foundation system recommendations is an asset.
- Familiarity with geotechnical and pavement design software (e.g., GeoStudio, Slope/W, CIRCLY, AASHTOWare) is an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports and presentations.
- Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork, including site investigations and construction monitoring, as required.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Canada or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the intention to obtain P.Eng designation.
