Messy spend management is tricky business. And tedious processes are a lose-lose situation for all involved, not just finance. At Pleo, we're changing that. We build spend solutions that make managing money seamless, empowering, and surprisingly effective for finance teams and employees alike—with a vision to help all businesses ‘go beyond’.
The word ‘Pleo’ actually means ‘more than you’d expect’, and living by that mantra has been the secret to our success over the last 10 years.
Now, we’re at a pivotal moment in our journey; every move we make has a direct impact on our 40,000+ customers, our business, and our collective success. We need people who take pride in uncovering customer needs, who turn complex problems into simple solutions, challenge the way things are done (respectfully), and always aim high. With great ambitions driving us forward, we can’t say we’ve got this whole thing figured out. And frankly, that’s half the fun! What we can say is that we’re a driven, progressive, and, importantly, a kind bunch of 850+ people from over 100 nationalities, all committed to delivering the future of business spending, together.
About the role
We’re looking for a Junior TechOps engineer to join our TechOps team at Pleo.
In this role, you’ll focus on supporting end-users by resolving day-to-day issues, managing requests through a ticketing system, and assisting with onboarding and offboarding processes. You’ll also help maintain and gradually improve our existing setups and automations, with guidance from the team.
You will be responsible for resolving issues through the ticketing system and escalating more complex problems to senior engineers when needed. Over time, as your skills and confidence grow, you’ll gradually take on more complex tasks and projects.
You’ll work closely with People Tech engineers, as well as the Workplace and Security teams. You’ll also interact with employees across the entire company, providing in-person support in our Copenhagen office, helping prepare for internal events, and ensuring meeting rooms and office technology are fully operational.
What you’ll be doing
- Front-line support - You’ll regularly provide 1st/2nd line support, which will be the primary focus of the role. A key part of your work will be delivering excellent, customer-focused support that genuinely delights our internal users. This role offers a great opportunity to get to know your fellow Pleoers, understand the challenges they face, and see how your support directly contributes to their success.
- Scaling identity - As Pleo continues to grow, you will support our approach to user identity management. You will help maintain Okta as our source of truth by assisting with day-to-day onboarding and offboarding of employees and contractors, and ensuring user access and identity groups are kept up to date. You’ll work with established processes and tools, while learning how our organizational structure is reflected across identity systems. With guidance from more experienced team members, you’ll contribute to improving these practices over time.
- Device management/attestation - You will support device attestation and device management activities, helping ensure company devices remain secure and compliant. This includes assisting with app updates, following defined update schedules, and carrying out device management tasks using established processes. Your work will contribute to maintaining the security and reliability of Pleo’s devices, with guidance and support from the wider team.
- Office networks/tech - We work closely with the Workspace team as a technical partner, helping to support and maintain Pleo’s offices around the world. You’ll assist with in-office technology such as networks, meeting rooms and A/V tools, and help with basic setup, configuration, and troubleshooting. With guidance from the team, you’ll learn how our office technology is managed and kept running smoothly.
- Asset classification and lifecycle - Both physical and digital assets are an important part of how TechOps operates. As the business continues to grow, you’ll help support the tracking and management of these assets throughout their lifecycle. This includes assisting with recording, updating, and maintaining asset information, while learning how assets are classified and accounted for using established tools and processes.
What you bring
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn. This role is designed as a learning opportunity. More than prior experience, we’re looking for someone who is curious about how systems work, enjoys breaking problems down, and is motivated to keep learning. You don’t need to be a technical expert yet, but you should be excited to build your skills and be willing to invest time in learning.
- Foundational comfort with technical concepts. You should feel comfortable engaging with technical topics and asking questions when something isn’t clear. You’ll be supported in exploring new approaches to problems, and we value openness, curiosity, and a willingness to challenge assumptions as you grow.
- Ability to work in evolving and sometimes ambiguous environments, with support. You won’t be expected to have all the answers. What matters is being open to learning, able to follow guidance, and comfortable making progress even when everything isn’t fully defined.
- Alignment with our TechOps operating principles. You don’t need deep experience with these yet, but you should be interested in learning and applying them over time. We’ll support you in developing these skills as part of your growth in the role:
- Transparency by default - Comfortable and capable with working transparently and in the open
- Humans are our most precious asset - An automation-first mindset, with an ambitious approach to reducing manual workload
- First principles first - Capable of breaking down problems and challenging presumptions before building a clear path based on well-understood reasoning
- Immediate solves, eventual growth - Adept at both working iteratively whilst also maintaining a clear focus on long-term strategic goals and best-practice approaches
Why is this role a good fit for you
This role is for you if:
- Experience with a similar software stack always helps. We run:
- A ~95% Macbook fleet managed by Kandji, ~5% Windows on Intune
- Okta for IAM, Google Workspace for email/productivity
- A large amount of Okta Workflows and open APIs for stitching together processes
- Neat for meeting rooms
- NDI for A/V conference
- Juniper Mist for office networking
- Pleo-wide tools like Slack, Notion, Miro etc
- A good understanding of what you want to learn next and why. We can help guide and show possible options but the role and team is extremely self-motivated and there’s an expectation that if you want to get the absolute best you can out of the team and your time at Pleo, you come ready and willing to learn.
This role may not be for you if:
- If you have an ego that can’t take a challenge. Regardless of experience, tenure, or qualifications, we believe in tackling problems from first principles. That means there’s no such thing as a stupid question when it’s asked with genuine curiosity. If you’re not ready for someone to challenge your assumptions and experience, you may struggle
- You are a hyper-specialist who relies on structure. We’re still a very small team that believes in excelling generally. We all have our areas of focus and expertise, but everyone is expected to have a base level of knowledge everywhere. If you prefer to work in an environment where you can focus solely and entirely on only your “favourite” problem areas, it’s likely this role is not a good fit.
Who you’ll be working with and reporting to
You’ll report to the TechOps Team Lead and work closely with many other teams once the ticket becomes a project. The TechOps team is part of the Enterprise Engineering group at Pleo.

Transparency is important to us so we also wanted to share some insights about what we’re looking for in applications to ensure you can set yourself up for success!
Last time we hired an Analytics Engineer, we received a total of 173 applications but only 10 were selected for an intro call. Some of the key reasons why previous candidates didn’t make it past the application screening stage include:
- CV writing and content: it was very clear that many of the CVs we saw were very generic and AI generated. There is no issue with leveraging AI to help with CV writing, there was little indication of what real impact the candidates had in their previous experience. You might have heard of the “Achieved X, as measured by Y, by doing Z” formula (credit Laszlo Bock ~2014), this is a great way to give a clear picture of what you have actually worked on. Some link or quick description of the companies you’ve worked with is also a great help!
- Application care: every single application we receive is reviewed by a human (yes, hundreds of them) because we believe that candidates' efforts should be matched by an equal level of human care. This means that we expect a similar level of attention put into your application. Read and answer the application questions carefully, they make a huge difference in our decision-making process.
- Profile to role fit: there was misunderstanding about the type of experience we expect from an Analytics Engineer and we received many applications from candidates who had never been exposed to a product-led environment or had been exclusively focused on SQL/dbt work when we’re looking for both technical and stakeholders management and team collaboration experience. We’ve taken great care in writing this role description to reflect the reality of the job as best as possible, please ensure you read it carefully and highlight on your CV the experience relevant to what we are looking for.
About your application
- Please submit your application in English; it’s our company language so you’ll be speaking lots of it if you join 💕
- We treat all candidates equally: If you are interested please apply through our application system - any correspondence should come from there! Our lovely support team isn't able to pass on any calls/ emails our way - and this makes sure that the candidate experience is smooth and fair to everyone 😊
- We can only achieve our goals if our team reflects the diversity of the world around us - and that starts with you, hitting apply, even if you are worried you might not tick all the boxes. We embrace and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply - regardless of race/ethnicity, colour, religion, nationality, gender, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, neurodiversity, socio-economic status, culture or beliefs.
- When you submit an application we process your personal data as a data processor. Find out more about how your data is used in the FAQs section at the bottom of our jobs page.
