The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences is seeking a passionate and dedicated teaching-focused Lecturer (Level B) to join Medical Laboratory Sciences in a part-time continuing role (minimum 0.4 FTE). The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to innovative, high-quality teaching and will actively and effectively supervise Honours and postgraduate research student projects.

This position is predominantly teaching-focused in Medical Laboratory Science and involves delivering undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as contributing to the School’s teaching and scholarship outcomes, including teaching excellence and engagement activities.

Here’s how you’ll make it matter:

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses across one or more areas within Medical Laboratory Sciences, including tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, field excursions, clinical or studio sessions, student consultation, and assessment activities.
  • Foster an outstanding student experience by encouraging active participation and engagement across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
  • Continuously enhance teaching practice through professional development, scholarly inquiry, and critical reflection.
  • Contribute to the quality, innovation, currency, and evidence base of learning and teaching through scholarly activities and outputs.
  • Undertake research and scholarship with the potential to influence policy and practice within the broader community.

This is a continuing, 40% part-time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be Academic Level B range $113,226 - $134,460 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $132,474 - $157,318 per annum.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will hold a doctoral or master’s qualification, or demonstrate significant progress toward completing a doctoral degree in Medical Laboratory Science, and possess appropriate accreditation and professional standing, supported by a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

In addition, you will demonstrate:

  • The ability to facilitate high-quality, student-centred learning and assessment activities.
  • Relevant knowledge, skills, and leadership in teaching and curriculum development, with a proven ability to administer university courses and programs.
  • A demonstrated commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and student-centred academic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience across key diagnostic pathology disciplines, including haematology, biochemistry, microbiology, histology, and transfusion science.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, internal staff, and external stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the disciplines of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences.
