Modern Family Law, a rapidly expanding national family law firm, is seeking an experienced and innovative Legal Writing and Content Manager to work remotely near one of our offices in California, Colorado, Georgia, Texas, or Washington.  Modern Family Law offers competitive compensation, a wide range of benefits, and a culture built on family values.

The Legal Writing and Content Manager will lead Modern Family Law’s content strategy and execution across the website, blog, and thought leadership channels (excluding email). This is a highly hands-on role: you will plan the editorial calendar, interview attorneys and subject-matter experts, and produce a high volume of content, including practice area pages, city/location pages, blogs, guides, FAQs, and legal thought leadership.

You will partner closely with the SEO Manager to ensure content is optimized for search (SEO), answer engines (AEO), and emerging AI/LLM behaviors so Modern Family Law appears where people go for answers.

You will collaborate with the Growth Marketing Manager on content distribution and with a future Email & HubSpot Manager who will adapt your content for lifecycle programs. You’ll also work with the Director of Marketing, our SEO and paid media partners, and attorneys across multiple states to create content that drives qualified leads, builds trust, and elevates our visibility in key markets.

Responsibilities include:

Strategy & Planning

  • Own and maintain a rolling editorial calendar aligned to:
    • Priority practice areas (e.g., divorce, custody, support, protection orders).
    • Key geographies and locations.
    • Core client journeys and real questions clients ask.
  • Develop content themes and ongoing series such as “Divorce 101,” “Custody Basics,” or “What to Expect at Your First Consultation.”
  • Collaborate with Growth Marketing to align content with campaigns, webinars, and new market launches.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing to ensure content aligns with brand messaging, campaign priorities, and firm-wide initiatives.

Content Creation (On-Site & Long-Form)

  • Write and edit high-quality content across:
    • Practice area and location landing pages.
    • Educational blogs, guides, and resource articles.
    • Client-facing resource pages and FAQs.
    • Attorney bios and profile stories.
    • Thought leadership and light PR support pieces.
  • Transform attorney interviews and complex legal insights into content that is clear, human, accurate, and accessible.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice: empathetic, direct, grounded, and trustworthy—avoiding unnecessary legal jargon.

PR, Thought Leadership & Partnerships

  • Coordinate with leadership, attorneys, and external partners to:
    • Secure expert commentary, podcast appearances, and local/regional media mentions.
    • While working closely with Content and PR resources, support bylined articles and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Develop referral and co-marketing partnerships with therapists, financial planners, mediators, and family service providers.
  • Translate attorney perspectives and legal concepts into structured, plain-language content suitable for a general audience.

Awards

  • Own the calendar, research, submission, and tracking of attorney, staff, and firm award nominations (e.g., SuperLawers, Best Lawyers, local “Best Of” lists), ensuring high-quality, on-brand applications and follow-up.

Cross-Functional Collaboration with Growth & Email Teams

With Growth Marketing:

  • Prioritize content that supports active campaigns, community discussions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide source material for social content, short-form video, webinars, and other distribution channels.

With Email & HubSpot Manager:

  • Provide modular content building blocks (e.g., sections, FAQs, tips, scripts) for use in nurture flows and lifecycle campaigns.
  • Provide updates when laws, processes, or firm positioning change.

With Creative/Design:

  • Partner on visuals, diagrams, PDFs, infographics, and social assets that bring written content to life.

Content Maintenance & Governance

  • Regularly audit and refresh content to maintain accuracy, local/state compliance, and competitive positioning.
  • Maintain a simple, organized content inventory to track existing assets, update needs, and publication locations.
  • Ensure content complies with state bar rules, legal advertising guidelines, and Modern Family Law’s quality and accuracy standards.
  • Maintain a consistent, firm-aligned brand voice across all content.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • As our culture is remote-first, all employees are expected to have the ability to work from home with a reliable internet connection and to set up a workstation that supports productive work during normal business hours.

  • High level knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft Suite of products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Adobe; and Zoom Conferencing Technology.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to handle routine or emergent issues.

  • Ability to translate legal concepts into accessible language for general audiences without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Strong judgment around tone, client sensitivity, and legal advertising guidelines.
  • Ability to synthesize attorney interviews, legal input, and complex material into structured, high-quality content.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to review performance data and adjust content strategy accordingly.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with attorneys, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent brand voice across all content formats.
  • Proactive and self-directed, with the ability to independently prioritize work and meet deadlines.
