Job Summary
The Litigation Docketing Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to the firm’s Litigation Docketing team. This role assists in maintaining docket records, processing incoming court notices and filings, and ensuring accurate distribution of critical calendar and deadline information. This position works under direct supervision and receives training on docketing processes, court rule applications, and legal technology systems.
Job Responsibilities
- The Litigation Docketing Clerk is responsible for entering, tracking and monitoring case-related deadlines using the firm’s docketing software systems.
- Accurately input data related to court dates, deadlines and other crucial legal information into the docketing system.
- Review court filings, orders and notices to identify important dates and requirements; enter case information, activity, and deadlines into firm docket system.
- Assist in the management and organization of legal documents, including filing and retrieving documents as required.
- Conduct basic docket and case lookup research via online court systems and PACER/PacerPro.
- Liaise with attorneys, paralegals, and other staff to provide updates on case status and requirements.
- Research and/or monitor cases with the use of various online resources.
- Respond promptly and professionally to information requests from attorneys and professional staff regarding matter inquiries
- Prepare and distribute routine docket and calendar reports for case teams based upon standard procedures.
- Assist with service and filing of court documents.
- Participate in team training and assist with clerical duties as assigned.
- Escalate unusual or unclear items to Docket Specialists promptly.
- Ensure all activities comply with legal and firm policies and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Detail‑oriented, eager to learn court procedures, and interested in developing a career in litigation docketing and legal operations.
- Experience in utilizing docketing software (i.e. eDockets, CompuLaw, CourtAlert) for calendaring and reporting is preferred but not required.
- Strong research skills are necessary in this role, and familiarity with legal research tools is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong collaborative and teamwork skills, and flexibility to adapt to changing department procedures when necessary.
- Excellent written and oral communication, problem-solving and service skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills and efficiencies.
- Flexibility to work overtime as required by business need.
Education
The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree. Equivalent training and legal experience may substitute for education.
Experience
Previous experience in a legal environment is preferred but not required. Paralegal or docketing experience is preferred.

Our Firm is committed to fair and equitable compensation practice in accordance with applicable laws. The salary range for this position is $50,000 – $76,000. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus. The salary for this position may vary based on location, market data, an applicant’s skills and prior experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other factors.
