About the position: Arkana Laboratories is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mass Spectrometry Lab Technician to join our newly established laboratory team. The successful candidate will train in preparing samples from renal biopsy tissue for mass spectrometry analysis.  Work is performed in accordance with standardized operating procedures. 

Clinical Duties

Responsible for becoming proficient in day-to-day operations of Lab Services; specifically:

  • Prepare, handle, and process samples for mass spectrometric analysis in accordance with laboratory SOPs
  • Perform quality control checks on materials and data produced
  • Complete equipment maintenance and logs
  • Develop problem-solving skills—determining causes of operating errors and deciding corrective course of action
  • Controlling operations of equipment and systems
  • Monitor and assess performance of self to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Assist in lab for other duties as assigned
  • Practice safe work procedures while performing job duties
  • Periodically review of work product for compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable workload limits

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in Accessioning
  • Maintenance of lab logs and tracking sheets
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • All SOPs must be followed
  • Any discrepancies, errors and/or deviation from the SOPs or Policies must be reported to the Lab Director
  • Laboratory Standards for Clinical testing must be maintained

You should have: 

Education:          Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.  

Experience:         1-3 years of experience working in a laboratory environment.  Experience in sample preparation is highly desirable.  Experience with immunoprecipitation is preferred.

Computer Skills:  Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel. 

Certifications & Compliance: Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and good laboratory practices (GLP). Compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations. 

Other Requirements: Dependable with strong reliability and consistent attendance.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-4pm, onsite at the main office in Little Rock, Arkansas.
