Job Summary:
Compu Dynamics is a leading provider of mission-critical power, cooling, and network infrastructure solutions for data centers across North America. Our Data Center Integration (DCI) team supports complex, high-reliability environments for hyperscalers, colocation providers, and enterprise clients.
The Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering multiple complex mechanical construction and service projects within data center environments. This role provides hands-on project leadership across scope development, scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, client communication, and closeout. Success in this position requires strong mechanical expertise, disciplined project controls, and a collaborative, customer-focused mindset.
Essential Functions:

- Project Planning & Execution
- Manage mechanical scopes from project award through completion within data center environments.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, logistics strategies, and execution approaches.
- Coordinate with Superintendents, field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
- Conduct site walks and field coordination to validate scope, constructability, and sequencing.
- Budgeting, Cost Control & Change Management
- Develop project budgets and forecasts in alignment with contract requirements.
- Track project costs, monitor cash flow, and manage change orders.
- Review subcontractor and vendor pricing to ensure accuracy and alignment with scope.
- Support pay applications and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
- Contract & Procurement Coordination
- Support contract reviews, scope clarification, and subcontractor negotiations.
- Coordinate procurement activities to ensure timely delivery of mechanical equipment and materials.
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers to mitigate schedule and cost risks.
- Client Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects.
- Provide regular project updates, forecasts, and issue resolution.
- Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and responsiveness.
- Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner closely with Electrical PMs, Engineers, Construction Managers, and DCI leadership.
- Coordinate with estimating and preconstruction teams during project transitions.
- Support internal reviews, lessons-learned sessions, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Quality Assurance & Commissioning Support
- Ensure mechanical installations comply with project specifications, drawings, and industry standards.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning activities, and punch-list resolution.
- Support project close-out documentation, including as-builts, O&M manuals, and warranties.
- Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Promote and enforce Compu Dynamics’ safety standards across all projects.
- Identify and mitigate project risks related to safety, schedule, quality, and cost.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and site-specific requirements.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Provide direction and support to Assistant Project Managers, Engineers, and field staff.
- Foster collaboration, accountability, and professional development within the project team.
- Support workforce planning and resource allocation across active projects.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems within mission-critical or commercial environments
- Experience managing complex construction projects with multiple stakeholders
- Proficiency in project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
- Familiarity with estimating, procurement, and subcontractor coordination
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Ability to travel up to 30%
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 5+ years of mechanical project management experience
- Experience supporting data center or mission-critical construction projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical infrastructure systems (HVAC, piping, cooling, controls)
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This role operates in both office and field environments, including active construction sites. Work outside of normal business hours may be required based on project needs.
Physical requirements include standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, reaching, pushing/pulling, and lifting equipment up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to communicate effectively and hear in various work environments.
