At Tandem PV, we are a team of people who are passionate about building a more sustainable world by bringing cost effective solar panels onto the market. We’re scaling metal-halide perovskite solar technology to make best-in-class mechanically stacked tandem modules. We have built efficient, durable cells, monolithic multi-cell submodules, and packaged modules with our scalable, low-cost process. Our next focus is expanding our team to work in our new pilot manufacturing facility.
About The Role:
In this role, you will work on a wide range of engineering challenges spanning hardware, software, and system integration. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a cross-functional engineering team with a highly talented group of engineers from varied backgrounds. You will own projects from ideation through implementation, ensuring our robotic systems operate efficiently and reliably in challenging field environments.
To excel in this role, you will:
Design, test, and integrate electronics hardware, wiring schematics, and power/control systems
Lead hardware bring-ups for embedded systems, including Modbus devices and PLCs
Develop and execute robot bring-ups, calibrations, and verification procedures
Define and maintain robotic system requirements and documentation
Collaborate with mechanical and software teams on system integration and manufacturability
Support manufacturing handoff, ensuring designs are production-ready
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across electrical, mechanical, and software domains
Qualifications:
Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience designing PCBs using KiCAD; able to build and debug circuits (e.g., variable load using digipots and resistors)
Familiar with Arduino, LabJack, and embedded prototyping tools
Skilled in reading and designing electrical schematics
Capable of basic part modeling and drawings with Solidworks
Experience with robotics, embedded systems, and hardware/software integration
Understanding of power and control systems for electromechanical devices
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, I2C, Serial, Visa,, etc.)
Real-time programming experience with PLCs or/and microcontrollers including PLC design, wiring, and programming (Siemens, Beckhoff TwinCAT)
Strong systems-level troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of design-for-manufacturing and production transfer best practices
Comfortable wiring low voltage (24 or 48 VDC) and industrial electrical (208 VAC, 480 VAC)
What we offer:
An awesome team of dedicated technologists changing the way the world is powered! If that’s not enough, we’ll take good care of you and your family with:
