Microbiology Laboratory Scientist

We are seeking a Microbiology Laboratory Scientist to perform antimicrobial susceptibility testing, culture-based microbiology testing, and microbial identification for our Pattern Laboratory for a period of 6 months. In this role, you will work closely with our Clinical Affairs team to demonstrate the performance and efficacy of our single-cell microbiology platform and new in vitro diagnostic device. In addition to performing work essential to the daily operational activities of the microbiology laboratory, your efforts will directly contribute to the generation of clinical data for the validation of our new technology. This role is for you if you love bacteriology, addressing antimicrobial resistance and want to be a part of bringing new technology to change the face of clinical microbiology.
Goals
- Conduct microbiology reference testing and Pattern assay testing clinical study protocol methods
- Provide microbiology support for successful reproducibility studies needed for FDA submission
How You Will Contribute
- Perform microbiology testing, including culture-based testing, Gram stains, MALDI-TOF MS for microbial identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (including disk diffusion and gradient diffusion methods)
- Provide microbiology support for clinical affairs, manufacturing, assay research and development
- Draft and review laboratory standard operating procedures
- Perform required quality control of reagents, media, assays, instrumentation etc.
- Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment
- Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks (such as cleaning, routine temperature monitoring, etc.)

Education and Experience
- Associate's or B.Sc. in microbiology or medical technology or related field
- 1-5 years of experience in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory Setting or other regulated environment (eg CAP, CLIA, FDA, food safety, etc).
- Experience working with BSL-2 microbes
- Knowledge of, and experience with, performing antimicrobial susceptibility testing, MALDI-TOF MS for microorganism identification, and automated blood culture systems, clinical relevant microbes, culture conditions, etc.
- Certification from ASCP or ASCLS, or microbiology specialist certification a plus
